Another day, another feminist Loony Tune. A new article in The Critic, a website for which Julie Bindel has written in the past. Helen Saxby hasn’t appeared on our radar before, but she’s clearly as deranged as the rest of them. Our thoughts on just two paragraphs:
“A decade ago, when such inconsistent arguments were more likely to be coming from the neo-conservative Mike Buchanan’s Justice for Men and Boys than left-wing trans allies like Billy Bragg, we became used to refuting oppositional arguments. We were told that the patriarchal gender order is natural in the family, schools and workplace, at the same time as the claim that women are just as physically aggressive towards opposite sex partners as men. [J4MB emphasis. Women are MORE physically aggressive. The Partner Abuse State of Knowledge Project (2013) reported that in the minority of heterosexual couples where there’s uni-directional violence, the perpetrator is TWICE as likely to be the woman as the man. And ONS data has long shown that women are more likely to be abused by female partners than by male partners.] Whilst promoting the idea that the traditional masculine and feminine roles are to be celebrated, there was also the drive to deny women equality in divorce settlements, [J4MB emphasis. Nothing on which of the two partners has financed the marital assets.] and when it came to child custody, suddenly the differences between mothers and fathers could be conveniently ironed out. [J4MB emphasis. No mention of fathers being denied access to their children.] Feminism, we were told then, was driven not by equality but by misandry, [J4MB emphasis. Well, that’s blindingly obvious!] whereas today’s feminists are driven by “transphobia”. Buchanan’s “whiny feminist of the month” [J4MB emphasis. The awards are here.] has been updated to the “Karen” who is always complaining. The old male desire to keep women out of football because “it’s a man’s game” [J4MB emphasis. No, that’s not the reason. The desire to keep women out of the men’s game is because women are so inferior to men in the sport – as in ALL sports – that it would be embarrassing to include them in teams.] has been modernised to the much more progressive view that women should be competing against men in sport, and if they get beaten it is simply that they are not training hard enough.” [J4MB emphasis. We’ve never heard this absurd argument put forward. No matter how hard women train, they will be beaten by men and boys. The top women’s soccer teams in the world have been beaten by schoolboys.]…
“Men’s Rights Activists were keen to minimise the differences between men and women when they showed men in a bad light, because they resented any funding going to women’s services. [J4MB emphasis. We have never heard MRAs resenting this, other than in the sense that one consequence of feminist activists is that almost no funding goes to men’s services.] The idea that these services were unfair to men came from a belief that feminism’s aim was female supremacy.” [J4MB emphasis. It’s not a ‘belief’, it’s a statement of the bleedin’ obvious.]
