Police chiefs are told to make fewer arrests and to suspend operations where a ‘large number’ of suspects could be detained – in a bid to save ease pressure on overcrowded jails

Ridiculous (Mail, £). The prison overcrowding crisis would soon disappear if male criminals were sentenced in a similar manner to female criminals.

  1. Being a bit of a “lefty” on Prison reform I’d like more effort in finding ways of supporting fathers and the often rather lost young men in our system. Certainly a fraction of the efforts put into female Prisons to re-habilitate inmates would be good. And of course one Elephant in the room is, like many other public services, there were no plans for the 6 millions extra people. And the other idiocy will be that feminists and a Labour Government will push for more imprisonments for “sexual crimes” by further undermining the Justice system and doing away with the right to jury trials.
