  1. Its interesting isn’t it that Mr. Gadd is sympathetic to his stalker, considering her mentally ill and in need of treatment rather than prison. A sentiment that appears in some of the comments. Now of course he may be right, however I’m willing to bet were the sexes be reversed the tone would be very different, even if the victim were similarly sympathetic (though that is very much less likely than a male victim). Somehow its a sort of obligation on male victims of stalking to at least appear sympathetic to their stalker, if female. (nearly half of cases in fact involve male victims of female stalkers, pretty remarkable when you consider that stalking falls within the VAWG strategy). I noted similar sympathies expressed by a male pop star and TV star this year following successful prosecutions of their female stalkers. Perhaps they are genuinely caring people or maybe its part of that general gynocentrism that sees only men to be “bad” and excuses female behaviour as “mad”. On a more general point it is good that such a drama gains attention as it gives a balance to the media’s general position of man=bad woman=good.
