A tip of the hat to They work for you for the transcript of yesterday’s International Men’s Day debate in Westminster Hall. Nick Fletcher introduced the debate, Philip Davies MP in the chair. We can safely assume few MPs attended the debate, as always. International Women’s Day debates are invariably held in the more prestigious House of Commons chamber, and reliably packed with MPs every year. Far too much of the debate (most of it) was taken up by female MPs (from all political parties) doing what they always do in the IMD debates  with regards to men’s issues, and male suicide in particular, victim blaming – presenting men’s issues as issues resulting from men not speaking up about their problems, or men having mental health issues, rather than considering how the pressures on them that lead to suicide could be reduced or eliminated altogether – denying them access to their children after family breakdowns being one obvious example.
