Karen Karbritz: “Why I’m telling my daughter to marry RICH: Some might call me anti-feminist, but I wish MY mother had instilled in me how crucial money and status are in a partner… Anyone who says wealth can’t buy happiness is kidding themselves!”

A piece in yesterday’s Mail. I’m puzzled as to why anyone would describe Karen Karbritz an anti-feminist.

  1. Many years ago when training as a teacher I remember the psychology lecturer saying that there are certain things we tell ourselves are true even though there is no evidence for them, but we would like to believe them. One of these things was that rich people are unhappy. It somehow makes us feel better.

  2. Well it may be a bit extreme but essentially this is what actually happens in the real world. Women “marry up”. As with so many things there are exceptions but this is the evidence from decades of Sociological researches. The real difference is that the obvious primary reason for this, the need to secure a breadwinner when having and looking after children, has been negated by “the pill” and “have it all” ideology. So one is left with generations of women full of entitlement but with no intention of fulfilling the role. Unsurprisingly there will continue to be the whiney “where have all the good men gone” articles and moaning about “commitment phobic” men , when in fact all the women offer nothing. As Elon Musk recently pointed out the net result is such populations will simply contract and die out.
