Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain is quoted in the article as saying:

‘Over 70 per cent of High Court cases relate to serious sexual offending.

‘Just four in ten rape and attempted rape trials result in conviction, compared to an overall conviction rate closer to nine in ten.

The obvious explanation for the lower conviction rate for rape is that far too many prosecutions for rape are brought with poor prospects of a conviction. Feminists are the only people agitating for more such prosecutions, because the lower the conviction rate, the more pressure they can apply for juryless trials, their real objective.
