The Advert video is a must see. As is the Mothers of Sons information about the development of Coercive Control as a concept and in legislation. The article summarises the situation in the UK well. In a classic of feminist category creep, once the Law was passed the idea of “Coercive Control” was used by Harriet Wistrich to reduce the sentence in one celebrated case of a wife luring her estranged husband to her home and hitting him on the head 13 times with a hammer she’d bought this purpose. The same notion has cropped up as the defense for wives, partners or girlfriends who have killed their husband, boyfriend partner. Usually as he slept or is relaxing with a well aimed knife to the chest ending his life before any self protection is possible. In each case the dead man is no longer alive to defend himself from the idea he was “controlling”. Because it is a legal offense, the courts are obliged to take it seriously, even though there is no evidence base or expertise in what is, as is pointed out here, simply asserted.
