So a “model” whose “job” consists of being pretty on social media has bagged a man who lets her live a pretty pampered life while she continues to dabble in social media. Using what Dr. Hakim identified as “erotic capital” or less sociological authors call “pretty power” to leverage the lifestyle from “quality” male partners. And this most ancient and traditional mechanism is supposedly “feminism”. It does prove Mary Harrington’s contention that feminism has become “whatever a woman does”. And of course this fuels the beauty business as erotic capital becomes more difficult to maintain over the life cycle. Fortunately for men, their actual capital, the core of their attractiveness tends to increase with age. It is no surprise that across Europe the “one and a half” income model is judged by most women, and men, to be most satisfying.
