CNN: Why the rate of single men in the US looking for dates has declined

Our thanks to Steve for this (video, 10:13). He writes:

Hi Mike

An interesting one from CNN, an interview with an author of a book about the men’s crisis. The author Scott Galloway has mixed background of Left Right thinking on his Wiki page. Maybe CNN is starting to get sick of losing viewers.

  1. Its important to remember that “middle class” has a different meaning in the USA. Our “middle class” really means people from a much higher socio economic class than the much broader term in the USA which includes well paid skilled jobs, trades and small business owners. Though not so explicit of course there was a similar investment here in the UK in the millions of returning service men, despite the country’s colossal debts. And much of the rest of the analysis holds true for here as the USA . The simple observation that men seek attractive (healthy and fertile) females while women seek actual or potential good providers. In a very real sense it is men who are the most “romantic” as they love the woman not her material assets or earning potential.
As Scott Galloway says the era of internet data follows on and magnifies the effect. Really by making the choices more truthful and obvious. Perhaps the future is polygamy? In a sense we have this already in that divorced men are far more likely than divorced women to remarry or find a new partner. So be “serial” monogamists with a number of wives over their much longer period of fertility and desirability! Of course the serious point is that the result of current trends will inevitably lead to sluggish economic growth and weak family formation. Added to this is the death of 200,000 potential new citizens through abortions and one can see the UK has only evaded the population declines seen in the EU by importing people by the million, thus far.
