Kelly Zolanski, 26, beauty blogger, claims using semen as face cream is the secret to glowing skin and praises it as ‘cheap, homemade alternative to expensive products’

You couldn’t make it up. The start of the piece:

A beauty blogger has claimed she saves money on expensive cosmetics by using a friend’s semen as face cream – keeping it in her fridge.

Kelly Zolanski, 26, from New York, was first inspired to use the bodily fluid after seeing a video online about how much ‘nutrients and protein’ was in it and decided to give it a go for an all-natural glow.

The singleton coyly texted a friend and asked if he would be her supplier before sheepishly welcoming him into her home where he made a deposit into a tub in her bathroom.

Kelly mixes the gloopy natural product with moisturiser for a smoother application, conceding it goes ‘flakey’ as it dries and that it could be ‘hard to keep up the supply’ if you’re single.

In a clip, Kelly can be seen tapping the translucent cream onto her skin and commenting on its ‘illuminating’ effects, before noting it ‘smells weird but it’s good’.

Kelly’s video has now racked up more than 3.3million views on TikTok, with more than 299,300 likes and 11,800 comments.

‘It’s a cheap, homemade alternative to expensive brands,’ she explained.

‘I keep it in a jar in the fridge. I live alone so no one will need to see it when they’re making breakfast.

‘I came across a video on TikTok of this girl explaining how much nutrients and protein [semen] has in it and that some people use it for facials.

‘I’m single at the moment and called one of my friends. I called him on FaceTime and asked if he could give me some of his semen.

We can only hope the man is prepared to be the victim of paternity fraud.

Joanna Torode, 46, sues top City law firm for £200,000 claiming stress ended her lucrative career after a ‘meltdown’ caused by her ‘intolerable’ workload

Our thanks to Ed for this. The start of the piece:

A high-flying lawyer who had a ‘meltdown’ due to her ‘intolerable’ workload at a top City law firm is suing the company claiming stress ended her lucrative career.

Barrister turned yoga instructor Joanna Torode, 46, says working conditions at the London office of international law firm Ropes and Gray were so ‘horrific’ that she had a nervous breakdown, bursting into tears at work.

After an ‘exodus’ of colleagues, she had been left with an ‘unrelenting’ workload and was often the last to leave at night, leading to her emotional collapse from stress over Christmas 2017.

In legal papers, filed to the High Court, she says she has been unable to work since being admitted to hospital in April 2018.

The barrister, who now runs charity yoga classes raising money for children in India, is suing Ropes and Gray for damages for the premature end to her law career.

According to court documents, her claim is for at least £200,000. However, it is likely to run into the millions due to her claim for the loss of her ‘substantial’ salary in the City.

Though it is not clear what the experienced barrister’s salary was, newly qualified lawyers at the firm’s London office earn as much as £147,000-a-year, plus bonuses.

The US firm, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is fighting the damages bid, claiming that – as a very high-earning City lawyer – it was expected that Ms Torode would sometimes work long hours.

And they deny that her workload was excessive in any way, suggesting that she was ‘over-focused on promotion’ and that her tears at Christmas were simply because she was passed over whilst other colleagues moved up the career ladder.

Lawyers for the firm have also attempted to turn the tables on Ms Torode, claiming it was ‘typical’ of her that she would ‘become upset frustrated and angry when she did not get what she wanted’.

Torode must surely have been on an extraordinary salary by most people’s standards. Like so many women, she wanted (it would appear) the upsides of her position without being willing to face the downsides.

I took early retirement in 2009, at the age of 52. One of the reasons was that I no longer wanted the stresses that inevitably came with my line of work (business consultancy). During my business career I knew quite a number of men and women who quit their jobs, or retired early, because they found them too stressful. The proportion of men who can perform well in very stressful roles over an extended period isn’t large, but it vastly exceeds the proportion of women who can. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why so few women (compared with men) apply for very stressful positions, where performance is always in the spotlight.

We now have the situation where women quit high-paying jobs and demand compensation including the income they would have earned, had they still been working. It’s obscene. I expect the firms most committed to the “Women are strong! Women are amazing!! Women need relentless support and gender quotas!!!” BS will crash and burn as they underperform their less feminised rivals.

Barbara Stange-Alvarez smashed £10,000 bottles of booze in five-minute Aldi wrecking spree because she ‘lost the ploy’ in shutdown. Suspended sentence, £5,000 compensation to Aldi.

Our thanks to John for this. A victim of the female menopause, surely, which most women experience between the ages of 48 and 52? Er, no, she’s 36.

This is typical of so many stories of women’s criminal wrong-doing. It includes a predictable claim of an abusive relationship as a mitigating factor, which we can be sure wasn’t investigated but was simply accepted as true. #BelieveHer, right?

As usual for women, a suspended sentence and compensation to the wronged party of only a part of their financial loss (50% in this case, it’s often much less). A headline you’ll never see, but should see with monotonous regularity – “Woman escapes punishment in court”.

The Guardian: More than a million UK women could quit their jobs through lack of menopause support

Our thanks to Mary (61) for this. We’re going to hear ever more about the female menopsause, and how menopausal women need “support”. I can’t recall seeing anywhere exactly what this “support” might consist of, but you can be sure it will include fewer working hours, without a reduction in income – as usual, men are going to have to shoulder the burden of their less productive female collagues.

An extract:

Terri Eva’s symptoms are so bad that she has been on sick leave from her job in a children’s centre for the last six months.

“My symptoms mean that being at work, without any support, is like torture,” she said. “My joints are so painful that I can’t move without agony. My head is in such a muddle that I can’t keep two thoughts in it at the same time [J4MB emphasis] and the anxiety is so bad it wakes me up at night.”

Would you want to be a passenger in a plane piloted by a woman with these symptoms? Nor me. We could only hope that the co-pilot (a) wasn’t another menopausal woman, and (b) was “supportive”.

In all the pieces I’ve read on this subject, a number of things are notable by their absence:

  • the possibility that women might use the menopause as the reason (or a reason) for doing something they want to do anyway, i.e. leave paid employment (usually an option facilitated by an employed male partner). Women are far more likely than men to either not engage in paid employment, or to work part-time, from the moment they leave f/t education. I refer the interested reader to Dr Catherine Hakim’s Preference Theory (2000).
  • the possibility that women might fake the symptoms of the female menopause in order to get time off work or to leave paid employment.
  • the male menopause or “penopause”, caused by a decline in men’s testosterone levels over time. Amazon sells many books on the subject, dating as far back as 1976 – here.

Response to Mike Buchanan’s ICMI21 presentation

From time to time we get critical comments on the videos we paste on YouTube which are nothing short of hilarious, so we publish them. I’ve just published the following comments on my ICMI presentation from “DT”:

Part of the reason why the dorky guys who run this channel and are behind these videos have the poor outcomes in life is because they have absorbed an incredible amount of what is fundamentally wrong information. They’re extremely knowledgeable but not really. [J4MB: That makes sense.] Knowledgeable sort of superficially by having absorbed ideas and concepts. [J4MB: Why, that high-falutin’ book learning!] You can totally see just in the graphics to these videos the kind of guy that the person is and why he would be unbelievably tediously annoying and therefore will turn off everyone who can attracts with (sic). First of all the video has a stupid Earth globe [J4MB: “stupid” Earth globe?] for some reason, I guess because it’s a global event. But everything is a global event because everything happens on this globe. [J4MB: Seriously, we didn’t invent this text. It’s good to know that the bingo evening at my local church hall is a global event.] Then it has these sci-fi futuristic fonts which make it look like bloody Star Trek or something, and then tiny font listing a weird hodgepodge of ideas that barely go together as the representative men’s rights ideas but without taking any issues about the content, keeping it entirely superficial, it also plays a boorish ominous sounding and tedious piece of classical music, from Beethoven I believe, [Beethoven’s tedious 5th symphony] I guess to somehow elevate the event to a more classy kind of event given that serious classical music is playing. Anyone who knows anything about any groups of people will tell you that the number one way the alien is the public [J4MB: “the alien is the public?” Does the genius mean “to alienate the public?”] is to make things pretentiously brainy, and in addition to that not even fun, it couldn’t have even been a good piece of classical music but it had to be … tum tum tum tuuuuum.

So the information these guys have absorbed is information, [J4MB: ?] it creates a video, even if you have to wait for 15 minutes [J4MB: slight exaggeration] for the video to start playing for the narcissistic over the top playing of the stupid graphic that makes no sense with men’s rights, while the tedious music is playing, it’s information on it, it’s just not information that will lead to any kind of predictable positive outcome because at no point does he consider who am I speaking [J4MB: … who HE is speaking to?] to and therefore I [J4MB: He?] should make this more appealing to as many people as possible to get our message out no he just makes it appealing to himself. And that brings me to my only and final point [J4MB: Which is it, only OR final?] that these guys tend to blame everyone else but they’re incredibly selfish people they are stuck in their ways they don’t like criticism they won’t adapt or change but they’re annoying and stubborn and in fact not at all smart it’s just a game of cosmetics to them because that’s all they got.
