ICMI2020 video #69 of 126: Pandurang Katti – “Men’s Activism in India – Insights and Experiences”

Video #69 is a presentation (30:23) by Pandurang Katti, details about “Katti” in the video description.

ICMI20 was very ambitious in scale – 126 speakers and interviewees – and many people haven’t caught all of the videos. To help remedy that, we’re publishing one video per day from early April until mid-August, so people have a reasonable chance of catching all, or most, of the material. Think of the videos as a daily Red Pill.

The videos will be published in the order in which they were originally published on our YouTube conference playlist. Paul Elam’s YouTube channel has 103,000+ subscribers – a few more than our channel – and also features the playlist.

THE SUN: Philip Davies MP’s comments on the lockdown extension

Our thanks to Ben for this piece published on the website of The Sun today. The content relating to Philip Davies:

And Philip Davies told The Sun: “It’s completely unjustifiable and it seems the Government has been captured by Sage and PHE, who are basically all a bunch of socialists.

“If people had wanted to be run by socialists they’d have voted for Jeremy Corbyn at the last election.”

‘You should be ashamed!’ Fury at GB News boycott demands as more firms (including Nivea) pull support.

So far, predictably, there’s been nothing to suggest that just-launched GB News is going to be challenging feminism or feminists any time soon. Its chairman, Andrew Neil, is also the chairman of The Spectator, the pro-feminist (albeit right-of-centre otherwise) weekly current affairs magazine which has refused to publish our full-page advertisement on the truth about domestic violence, while it has seen fit to publish 50+ articles by Julie Bindel alone. One of the GB News presenters, Gloria De Piero, is a former Labour MP who was at one time the Shadow Minister for Women & Equalities. But we remain optimistic that the channel will start challenging feminists at some point.

Our thanks to Ben for this. It appears that Nivea (among other brands including Grolsch and Ikea) have pulled their adverts from GB News in response to a left-wing Twitter campaign. They should be utterly ashamed of themselves, and we can only hope they all experience a consumer boycott as a result.

The only brand that bothers me on a personal level is Nivea. I’m a faithful buyer of their products, particularly their outstanding “Nivea Men” range, and today alone I’ve used five of the products – here. I shall be sending an email with a complaint to Nivea shortly and urge you to do likewise (consumer.relations.uk@beiersdorf.com). Beiersdorf is the major company which owns the brand.

I’ll be giving Nivea 72 hours in which to respond to my complaint. If I get a positive response I’ll publish it here. If I don’t, I’ll throw my Nivea products in the bin and start a campaign for the boycotting of Nivea products (by both men and women). We played our part in the campaign to boycott Gillette products, as a result of which the company lost $8 BILLION from its market value, following its screening of an anti-male TV advertisement created by a feminist (go woke, go broke).

David Eggins and Denise Knowles: The DAPPs Don’t Work (Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programmes)

Three months ago we posted a blog piece linking to an interview of David Eggins and Denise Knowles on the OnRecord channel, The DAPPs Don’t Work (Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programmes).

I was pleased to learn that a follow-up interview has been published, CAFCASS, Respect and the failed DAPPs (video, 19:20). The video description (check the actual description for links):

David Eggins and Denise Knowles explained to us that the Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Progammes, commissioned by CAFCASS and accredited by Respect do not work. They have a 70% dropout rate and even those who complete the course don’t all pass.

Here we look at what CAFCASS and Respect have to say about their DAPPs.

We also look at what the originators of the DAPP approach to treatment (the Duluth model) have said about the programme they designed. In 1999, Ellen Spence acknowledged that they had been wrong to promote the ideological view that male domestic abuse was based on an assumption of power and control by men over women.

BBC accused of attempting to shut out GB News at 11th-hour

GB News officially launches at 8pm tomorrow (Sunday) but is already posting some reports. A piece in today’s Telegraph:

Move to bar access to footage of public events is seen as an attempt to ‘damage’ Sunday’s launch of the right-leaning channel

The BBC has been accused of an eleventh-hour “ambush” intended to “damage” Sunday’s launch of the right-leaning television network GB News.

The corporation is alleged to have been pushing to bar GB News from accessing footage of public events via a “pooling” system run by the country’s three main broadcasters.

The move would leave the new channel unable to broadcast many major events where there is only space for one camera.

A GB News spokesman said: “This is an ambush by the BBC designed to damage the launch of GB News and protect their dominance of UK news broadcasting.  We will fight it.  And our launch continues.”

The move reignites a row that surfaced in 2010 when the Press Association, the national news agency, complained that it was unable to access footage from “single camera assignments” filmed as part of the UK Broadcast Pool, which comprises the BBC, Sky News and ITN.

At the time, the Commons culture committee urged the Government to “ensure the right of access for the Press Association” alongside the pool camera at national events,  “if the members of the broadcast pool are not prepared to make the content available to the Press Association at a reasonable cost”.

GB News claims that the BBC has been pushing for its new rival to be barred from receiving pooled footage from national events under a change to the pool’s rules which would take effect from Monday – the first full day of broadcasting for the new channel.

It is understood, however, that some members of the pool have expressed a willingness to license pooled material to GB News on “fair” terms. But GB News said it had not received any contact from any of the three broadcasters. It had signed a deal with Reuters for access to clips. A source said the news agency had been made “piggy in the middle” of the dispute.

In 2010, Helen Boaden, the then director of BBC News, described the UK Broadcast Pool as an “informal working arrangement whereby the television broadcasters combine their resources to cover events (sometimes very expensive and international) in a cost effective way.

“Each broadcaster either contributes equipment or funds, or takes a turn at covering an event for other members of the pool.

“The number of cameras allowed at events is at the discretion of the event organisers.”

A BBC spokeswoman said: “This is a speculative story and we are not commenting on it.”

Sky News and ITN also declined to comment.

GB News presenters will include Neil, former ITN newsreader Alastair Stewart, who will present a weekend show; and Simon McCoy, the former BBC and Sky News presenter who will host an afternoon programme with Alexandra Phillips, a former Brexit Party MEP and head of media for the party.

Meanwhile Gloria de Piero – the former Labour MP and Good Morning Britain political editor – will present a lunchtime show with Telegraph columnist Liam Halligan.

Neil has said that viewers will benefit from the additional competition that a new broadcaster provides for the existing channels.

“We are in a competitive environment, they know that,” he said last week. “I suspect [our rival TV channels] will up their game, that’s fine, the only winner is the viewer.”
