Hi Everybody,
I had an interesting thinkspot chat this week with Canadian men’s activist Janice Fiamengo, talking about the risks to American men of the identity politics ideology promoted by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We concluded there are very good reasons to be extremely nervous about the prospect of this pair running the country.
As Janice explained, Biden has had a long history of supporting policies which deny men’s rights. He was the architect of the disastrous Violence Against Women Act, VAWA, which has attracted so much adverse attention that last year it failed to gain re-authorization in the Senate and there’s still no sign of getting it through.
The case against VAWA is overwhelming:
- These laws have led to untold numbers of women across the county making false accusations to turf men out of their homes.
- With over $8 billion given to domestic violence programs since 1994, Department of Justice audits show 73% of recipients of VAWA funds are ‘non-complaint’ – meaning the money intended for victims ended up being siphoned away.
- These programs fail dismally to address root causes of DV like substance abuse, mental health problems, marital conflict.
- Domestic violence rates have fallen by half in the past decade, yet ever more money is demanded for a dwindling problem.
- Male victims are totally neglected.
- VAWA has led to widespread immigration fraud, with false DV claims used to gain residency.
One funny twist to ongoing efforts for re-authorization is a recent proposed amendment which was drawn up in response to woke pressures to remove gender pronouns and changed mentions of “women” to “people” – leading to the possibility that male victims could inadvertently ended up with fair treatment.
On the side of survivors.
VAWA was only the beginning of Biden’s long crusade to come down hard on men who offend or mistreat women. During the Obama administration he was largely responsible the Title IX regulations which forced American colleges to set up tribunals adjudicating sexual assault and he is now promising a “quick end” to Betsy DeVos’s due process reforms. “As President, I’ll be right where I always have been throughout my career — on the side of survivors,” he said recently.
Both Biden and Harris were outspoken defenders of Blasey Ford during the Cavanagh hearings and both proudly boast about believing all #MeToo accusers. Harris even spoke out supporting the women who lined up to accuse Biden of inappropriate behaviour – but naturally that was before she became Biden’s running mate.
Whitewash of Harris’ past
I wrote last week about the fact that Harris received an early boost to her career when, as a young lawyer, she landed two major government appointments through the largesse of her lover, 60 year-old Willy Brown. It’s been revealing that this “sexual exploitation” is receiving absolutely no attention in mainstream media, despite this history being very well known.
Women continue to use their sexual power to gain unfair advantage in all manner of occupations but these days it is strictly verboten to talk about women “sleeping their way to the top.” As a recently retired English professor, Janice points out there have always been women in academia who do very nicely through choosing the right senior men as lovers. Perhaps this is what’s known as a “leg-up”? 😊
Anyway, here’s the video of our lengthy discussion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0xamOUpZW8
I strongly feel the dangers for men of a Biden/Harris presidency should receive more attention so I hope you will circulate it.
News of my Honours Award?
The Honours Council charged with responding to complaints about my award is due to meet in the next few weeks. The first of their bi-annual meetings in February was cancelled due to COVID, hence the long delay. Note that, contrary to press speculation, the Council has not been investigating my alleged wrong-doings. Unless evidence has emerged that I have committed a criminal offence or something equally serious since being offered the award, the Honour simply remains in place, despite the desperate campaign to use this opportunity to try to cancel me.
I’m preparing material for my website to give all the background to the media campaign against me, who was behind it and why. As part of the evidence as to how the media chose to misrepresent my work, Greg Andresen from www.oneinthree.com.au has examined some of the material presented by the ABC Media Watch program, in their attack on me. See here
Media Watch approached three major domestic violence organisations in Australia – ANROWS, Our Watch, and Domestic Violence NSW – questioning them about my statement that one in three domestic violence victims are male. See these organisations twist and turn, trying to discredit my statement which was based on the best official statistics. Media Watch ended up not using this material in their television segment, which focused on other malicious, ill-informed allegations about me. But conveniently, they posted all this material on their website – providing an interesting expose of the blatantly duplicitous way these government-funded organisations operate.
Bullying by Australian academic.
This week I’m also releasing a video of a previous thinkspot chat – this time with Deborah Powney, a UK researcher who recently conducted the world’s largest survey of male victims of partner abuse. During our conversation Deborah talks about a well-known Australian academic who recently tried to close down her research by sending critical comments to the head of the department where she is doing her PhD.
At the time, Deborah contacted me for help in handling the bullying from this academic, who has built his academic career producing research denigrating to men. I was able to enlist the support of Toby Young, who I interviewed some months back about his Free Speech Union. Toby’s efforts sent the academic packing, his tail between his legs.
You can listen to my conversation with Deborah here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn7Otq_NGCU
That’s about it for this week.
Cheers, Tina
