Priti Patel pledges to help vulnerable people stuck at home with domestic abusers during the lockdown after police chief reveals online child abuse has increased during the coronavirus crisis

Our thanks to Mike P for this piece in Mail Online. It’s good to see Priti Patel, Home Secretary, referring to vulnerable “people” rather than vulnerable women.

It’s known that in heterosexual couples where violence is uni-directional, the perpetrator is twice as likely to be the woman as the man, so the victim is twice as likely to be the man. What image does Mail Online see fit to put in the middle of its piece? A stock library photo of a cowering woman on the ground, with a man clenching a fist in the foreground. There’s a quote from a Women’s Aid spokeswoman, nothing from Mankind Initiative or other organizations supporting male victims of domestic violence.
