‘Men as Change Agents’ board meets for first time

Another day, another ill-considered ideologically-driven anti-business initiative intended to increase the number of women on corporate boards. I’ve archived the piece just published by Personnel Today, my comments – also archived – are “awaiting moderation”. I’m more likely to win a gold medal for pole vaulting at the next Olympics, than the comments be published.

One day the business community will wake up and realise the Empress has no clothes, but how much damage will be done by then, and what will be the cost to business of unravelling the mess?

House of Commons Library: “Seven of the current members of the Cabinet (30%) are women, including the Prime Minister.”

Just archived. It’s good to know the House of Commons Library is providing up-to-date information to MPs and peers.

Our commentary on the Domestic Abuse Bill for MPs and peers

We normally keep details of our exchanges with MPs and peers “below the radar”, but on this occasion we’ve decided to make one of our submissions to them public, with their agreement.

One of the first Bills we can expect to receive its next reading soon is the Domestic Abuse Bill. The commentary we’ve just supplied to a number of MPs and peers is here. We look forward to the Bill being debated in the House of Commons and scrutinised in the House of Lords.

Placido Domingo – another career ruined by allegation and innuendo

Our thanks to Douglas for this:

Last year, the world-famous opera star Plácido Domingo celebrated his 50th year at the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Today (Wednesday 25th) he was due to start the title role in the Met’s Macbeth.

However, for the past few weeks, he has been accused of sexual misconduct. The accusations have been added to since the first was announced, some of them three decades old. Mr Domingo denies all the allegations.

Nevertheless, both the Philadelphia Orchestra and the San Francisco Opera, have cancelled his appearances. Staff at the Met have been making his life hard though management – to their credit in the prevailing ‘believe the female accuser’ culture – have been reluctant to join in the witch-hunt.

Yesterday, Plácido Domingo announced that he was retiring from the Met. and would not return. It is quite possible that the world has already had the last chance to hear the tenor’s voice in public.
