Speakers’ Corner, London – where Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs) and other anti-feminists meet. Join us there, Sunday, 28 July.

27 January, 2019, left to right:

Nostradormouse, Lynton, Jack, Richard, Rod, Ewan, Big Nose, Mike

Mike Buchanan and other Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs) and anti-feminists visit Speakers’ Corner, London, on alternate Sundays, from approximately 10:30 onwards, and we stay for at least two hours, sometimes more. The next meeting will be on 28 July, we invite you to join us.

We campaign for men and women to have equal rights, because women and girls have rights denied to men and boys in many areas. 20 such areas were explored in the J4MB 2015 general election manifesto. One of the “equal rights” placard designs is here.

We campaign against Male Genital Mutilation (MGM), a crime under the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861, being at least ABH, and almost certainly GBH. The party’s playlist of 90+ video and audio pieces relating to MGM is here, it includes footage taken at Speakers’ Corner.

If you’d like to know if Mike and others are planning to attend Speakers’ Corner on a particular Sunday, please contact us (info@j4mb.org.uk).

Members of The London Group are invariably present at Speakers’ Corner on the same days, some of them speaking on stepladders about men’s issues, feminism etc.

Our online photo album of images taken at Speakers’ Corner is here.

Jon Baily will be going to the Chicago conference

I’m delighted to report that because of many generous donors, the £1,800 target of Jon Baily’s fundraiser has been achieved. Our warm thanks to all the good people who made this possible.

The obscene gender pay gap at the Wimbledon tennis championships

Since 2007, the prize money for men and women at the Wimbledon tennis championships has been the same. In truth, the women’s game has since then been a parasite on the men’s game:

    • the men’s game attracts far more money in broadcasting rights and ticket sales
    • women play a maximum of only three sets, compared with men playing a maximum of five sets

This year the men’s and the women’s singles title winners landed £2.35 million prize money.

Yesterday Simona Halep beat Serena Williams 6:2, 6:2, in just 56 minutes. A total of 16 games.

This afternoon, I returned from campaigning at Speakers’ Corner to catch the exciting final set of the Djokovic / Federer final, which Djokovic won following a tie-break in the final set. He won the match 7:6, 1:6, 7:6, 4:6, 13:12. A total of 68 games, more than four times as many as in the women’s final. The game was (just) the longest in Wimbledon history, at four hours and 57 minutes, more than five times longer than the women’s final.

Equal pay for such unequal effort and audience interest is nothing short of obscene.

Donations to Jon Baily’s £1,800 crowdfunder have reached £1,750. Let’s wrap this one up.

With just five weeks to go until the Chicago conference, recent generous donations mean we need just £50 more to reach the £1,800 target for Jon Baily to attend. We’ve been monitoring flight costs regularly, and they’ve started to rise, as we feared (although only slightly, so far). The fundraiser is here. Jon Baily deserves to join us in Chicago, let’s make that happen. Please donate what you can. I’m so proud of J4MB supporters, for your generous support since the day we launched the party, back in 2013. With your continuing support, we’ll be around – and campaigning for the human rights of men and boys – for many more years to come. Thank you.

William Collins’s new book: The Empathy Gap

Good news. It’s a remarkable book, truly a tour de force. The publisher is LPS publishing, a publisher with many outstanding titles in its catalogue, a number of them about men’s issues and feminism.
