One-day course: “Confident Communication for Women in the Workplace. Increase Your Credibility, Impact and Personal Power at Work.”

Our thanks to Groan for this. He writes:

Government funded course. Two things occur to me. One is that an awful lot of this stuff is charlatans fleecing public bodies, feedback I had from quite a few of my female former colleagues was that they had a “nice day out” rather than learned much on such “empowering” courses. On the other hand the list of skills and abilities that men must either have in their genes, or learn by doing the job, should make us a much better bet as future managers, certainly much less high maintenance in every way.

As always with Groan, good points, well made. The issue of gender differences in confidence is of enduring interest to me. Why do women need such courses, you might well ask, when men apparently don’t? To me, the answers are obvious:

1. As a sex, women tend to be more anxious than men, more narcissistic, and spend more time and effort managing and exploiting relationships rather than building competences.

2. Only one in seven women is work-centred, while four in seven men are (Dr Catherine Hakim’s Preference Theory)

3. From the moment they leave full-time education, women are markedly more likely than men to either not engage in paid employment, or to only work part-time. They therefore spent less time than men in building competences, and to advance they’re more likely than men to leech off those (invariably men) with the competences they lack, as mentees. Men don’t need mentors, thereby proving for literally the gerzillionth time that men are better than women. (We recommend the book, “Men are Better Than Women”, by an American, Dick Masterson. Hilarious.)

4. Building competences is the key to building confidence, for both sexes. Women want confidence without putting in the huge amount of time and effort required to build sufficient competences in advance. As so often the case with women, they want the upside, but not the downside.

GERMANY: Not only human beings obey the signals at pedestrian crossings

Whilst on business in German cities during my career, on numerous occasions I was struck by the looks of utter horror on the faces of Germans whenever I walked across pedestrian crossings with lights forbidding pedestrians to cross, even when no cars or bicycles were approaching. On one occasion, I heard a man remarking, “Crazy man, he’s probably British” (in German). I was never good at speaking German, and because the Germans I met on business invariably spoke English well, I found that I didn’t need much German beyond, “Zwei Pils, bitte!” at bars in the evenings. Enjoy (video, 0:57).

The Fiamengo File 100 – All Anti-Feminism, All The Time

Excellent (30:24). What an outstanding video series, which started in 2015. The first episode was titled, Why I am an anti-feminist (11:58).

Engaging with university students and academics: Mike Buchanan and Elizabeth Hobson to give talks at the University of Cambridge, 24 May.

[Note added 10.7.19: We have a blog piece where we’re putting all our published pieces relating to the Cambridge talks, from the original announcement to the present day – here.]

[Note added 25.4.19: Along with Elizabeth Hobson, Jordan Holbrook, and others, I’ll be having lunch at The Regal, a JD Wetherspoon establishment in Cambridge, from 1:00 p.m. on 24 May, five hours before the talks are scheduled to start. We’ll stay there as long as we can, and will return there after the talks. We invite you to join us, whether or not you’ll be attending the talks.]

[Note added 1.5.19: (Free) tickets for this event can be ordered through Eventbrite, here. Registration starts at 5:00 pm. Please note that seats will be reserved for ticket holders until 5:45, after which they will be made available to those not holding tickets, on a first come, first served basis. The first talk will start at 6:00 pm.]

I am pleased to announce a new strategy for J4MB, engaging with university students and academics, particularly those studying or teaching subjects close to our mission, such as Politics and History. Both groups could benefit greatly from being better informed about men’s issues and feminism. Universities are the sources of much of the indoctrination of young adults who later (in positions of power and influence) assault the human rights of men and boys – and by extension, women and girls – in so many areas, including the 20 areas explored in our last election manifesto. The areas include:

Genital mutilation
Reproductive rights
Fatherlessness
Education
Employment
Denial of access to children
Domestic violence
Sexual abuse
Armed forces veterans’ mental health
Homelessness
Suicide (#1 cause of death of men under 45 in the UK, in all age brackets)
Criminal justice system
Paternity fraud
Anonymity for suspected sexual offenders
Divorce settlements
Healthcare provision

In coming weeks and months we’ll be announcing a series of talks at universities, with one or two high-profile Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs), anti-feminists, and others, speaking at each event.

The first event will be held at one of the most prestigious seats of learning in the world, the University of Cambridge. My talk title will be, “Equal Rights for Men and Women”. The talk title is the same as that of the talk I gave at last year’s fourth International Conference on Men’s Issueshere (video, 29:31) – but the content will be very different.

Elizabeth Hobson, our Director of Communications, will be talking before me, on “The History of Feminism”. Elizabeth is currently studying for a BA in History and Politics at the Open University,

The venue for our talks will be the Alison Richard Building, the date 24 May. We do not imply an affiliation with the University of Cambridge or any of its departments.

Both Elizabeth and I will have Q&A sessions, and the event will be over 18:00 – 20:00. Registration will take place over 17:00 – 17:55. Refreshments will not be provided.

This new strategy will add substantially to our costs, so if you’re not already a donor or party member, perhaps now is the time to start? Details below.

Bettina Arndt update

Just received:

Hi Everyone,

Last October, Augusto Zimmermann, a law professor and former WA law reform commissioner, was asked to speak to the Police Union about his concerns about the misuse of domestic violence restraining orders. Augusto has been a brave campaigner against West Australia’s greatly expanded domestic violence laws which give enormous power to women to ruin men’s lives with false accusations.

But when the time came to give the speech, the organisers had lost courage and he was slated to talk about free speech. He still took the opportunity to talk to the police officers about domestic violence, explaining how free speech on this topic is being muzzled. Having had prior experience teaching police officers in Rio de Janeiro, Augusto was well-equipped to speak about the role of police as enforcers of rights in a community. He explained our police are currently being placed in an invidious position, denied their rightful role as protectors of the innocent and punishers of the guilty and instead, used as instruments of oppression in a corrupt system.

Tough words which clearly resonated with the boys in blue, who are doing the dirty work for the feminist-led campaign using domestic violence laws to empower women and demonise men.

I’ve made a number of videos about the abuse of domestic violence restraining orders, including an interview with Augusto last year. I’ve heard from police across the country who are uncomfortable with what is happening but are not able to speak out because they are fearful of losing their jobs.

But now, finally, we have a terrific interview with a retired NSW chief inspector who contacted me because he is horrified by where this is all heading. We have kept his identity hidden and disguised his voice to protect this brave man who is blowing the lid on this huge scandal corrupting our legal system.

Please help me promote it as widely as possible. Here’s the actual video:

Abbie Will, 20, false rape accuser, told police man had sexually assaulted her near a school – but was caught on CCTV shopping in Morrisons at same time

Our thanks to Nick for this. The end of the piece:

Will admitted to wasting police time and causing their publicly-funded resources to be diverted unnecessarily at the sheriff court yesterday.

Sheriff Morag McLaughlin released the 20-year-old on bail to allow for the preparation of a social work report. [J4MB: A common precursor to no punishment.]

She has previously pleaded guilty to crimes including threatening to kill police officers and threatening to damage a police station and will be sentenced in connection with those offences at a later date.

Will also has an earlier conviction for making false emergency calls.
