What is a man? A response to Gillette

Egard Watch Company has released a beautiful short film in response to Gillette’s recent abomination. Video (1:57).

Founded in 2012, “as a tribute to the bond between a son and his father”, they also happen to sell some rather handsome wristwear.

Our thanks to Danuta for pointing us to a number of pieces in the last edition of The Mail on Sunday:

GCHQ targets teenage girls with all-female course in bid to redress gender imbalance. What could possibly go wrong?

Our thanks to Mike P for this:

GCHQ has launched an all-female training course in a bid to recruit women spies and redress the gender imbalance in the intelligence community.

Britain’s cyber spy headquarters, based in Cheltenham, says classes for female teenagers held across Britain in cyber-skills and intelligence will help to recruit more diversified agents.

The CyberFirst Girls’ Defenders course will see 600 applicants take part in residential and non-residential training events. The plan is to open cyber-skills to teenage girls in what is traditionally a male-dominated field.

The wider CyberFirst programme offers a range of courses and student bursaries for 11 to 17-year olds. GCHQ’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) estimates around 90 per cent of the global cyber workforce are men.

Chris Ensor, the agency’s deputy director for skills and growth, said they have seen a spike in numbers attending their courses.

“Women only make up a small proportion of the global cyber-workforce, and throughout GCHQ and the NCSC we are looking to address the imbalance,” he said.

“Ensuring the inquisitive instincts of young people…is hugely important”.

The CyberFirst Girls’ Defenders course provides an introduction to the tools, knowledge and skills required to build and protect small networks and personal devices. The four-day package will be offered at 10 locations across the country.

A spokesman for the NCSC told the Telegraph the aim of the course was to introduce young girls to cyber security through a fun and light-hearted approach. [J4MB: In preparation for fun and light-hearted careers in cyber security, presumably?]

It comes after the launch of the all-female CyberFirst Girls competition last month, which saw NCSC promote computer skills and careers in cyber security in schools.

Steph McGovern, a BBC presenter said: “Cyber security is crucial for every element of our life. We need to solve the skills gap by getting young women in particular interested in this subject.”

Bettina Arndt: The cat ate the condom

Just received from Tina:

Hi Everyone, we are very excited here today. For years I have been following a terrible case where a young prison officer was sent to prison following false rape accusations from his ex-partner. Today that young woman, Sarah Jane Parkinson was sentenced in Canberra to 3 years in prison, with two years non-parole.

I’ve made a video with Dan, the young man whose life she destroyed. It is the most extraordinary story – I’m sure one day it will end up as a movie. It starts with Parkinson having an affair with a policeman which leads to Dan breaking off their engagement. Boy, talk about the wrath of the scorned. Parkinson, with the help of her crooked cop boyfriend and his mates, embark on a crusade to destroy Dan and his family. False domestic violence accusations, AVOs, alleged breaches and then a doozy of a fake rape scenario where she smashes her own head with a brick, plants empty condom packets (very considerate rapist, using a condom, eh?) and then claims the cat ate the condom.

But then the cavalry arrives, good cops led by a female detective who’s onto the corrupt antics of the Parkinson’s police mates. “Don’t fucking touch anything!” the good cops warn the bad guys. Yes, I know… It reads like a very bad script for The Bill. But it is all totally true.

Dan is immediately sent to prison following the fake rape allegations – the earlier violence accusations meant no questions asked. He’s in a maximum security prison at Goulbourn, a very scary place for a young prison officers who knows screws get a very bad time inside. He spends four months in an isolation cell for his own protection, suicidal and knowing he faces up to 15 years if convicted on the trumped up charges.

Meanwhile, with Dan taken care of, Parkinson goes after Dan’s family with false violence accusations against his dad, planting stolen goods, all manner of shenanigans. But little does she know that the good cops are running a sting on her and her copper mates, tracking their movements. So it goes on – for five long years.

My interview with Dan is pretty long but I hope you will agree it is an amazing story. And, thankfully for once it has a good ending. Not that Parkinson’s prison sentence is any consolation for Dan losing his reputation, his job, and having to move to another state, while his parents blow their life savings paying legal bills.

Please like the video and help me circulate it – here (video, 27:48).

What else? It’s been a very hectic week with our End Violence Against Everyone campaign gathering pace. We need heaps more signatures for the petition. Here’s the link just to sign up https://bettina.social/stop-violence

My video last week promoting the campaign led to an exciting discovery. Midst all the politicking over Trump’s wall and the spending bill, one excellent result has been the demise of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The feminists have lost their huge cash cow which funded domestic violence organisations across America to find new ways of demonising men.

VAWA was created in the early 1990’s to go after wife-beaters, targeting men but never women, for perpetrating domestic violence. Although the law pretended to be gender neutral, the massive funding to feminist advocacy groups insured men would be routinely arrested for domestic violence (even if the men were actually victims of women’s violence rather than perpetrators.) The law weaponized the legal system, providing excuses for police and government agencies to punish men for any behaviour deemed unacceptable to the feminists. I recently made a YouTube video about widespread immigration fraud where foreign women marry American men and then use VAWA as a speedy path to permanent residency.

Now Republicans have spat the dummy and refused to reauthorize the Act. VAWA is dead in the water. This is very good news for American men and women who care about fair treatment for both genders. I’ve written about this for Spectator Australia, out tomorrow – here.

And then there’s been the massive response to the Gillette ad. I wrote about this in The Australian today – it’s also on my Facebook page – suggesting the ad might just represent a tipping point, a defining event which motivates the silent majority to speak out against the constant demonisation of men. As I write this there’s been over 1200 comments published in the paper, mainly from people saying the company should be boycotted. Let’s hope for once the silent majority gets active and makes their presence felt. What an achievement it would be if we actually hit the company where it counts – on the profit line.

Cheers, Tina

Video submissions in response to Gillette’s TV adverts – deadline put back to 24:00 GMT, Sunday, 20 January

Earlier this evening we posted a piece inviting people to submit short video pieces to be included in a compilation video in response to Gillette’s recent anti-male TV adverts. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we need to put back the deadline for video submissions from 24:00 GMT on Friday, 18 January, to 24:00 GMT on Sunday, 20 January. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Your opportunity to be in a video, responding to the anti-male Gillette TV adverts

[Note added: Please note the deadline for video submissions has been put back by 48 hours, to 24:00 Sunday, 20 January.]

Tom, the technical and creative genius who filmed and edited the videos of the presentations at the last three conferences, has come up with a great idea. He’s offered to stitch together a number of short video pieces from men and women showing their responses to the Gillette anti-male TV adverts. Your responses can take any form you want, including discarding Gillette products and/or other Procter & Gamble products. Feel free to curse and swear, but Tom will “bleep out” anything particularly strong. For your video to be considered for inclusion, it must comply with the following guidelines:

Deadline for submission – 24:00 GMT Sunday, 20 January
Format – .mp4 or .mov
Duration – no less than 10 seconds, no more than 30 seconds
Identify yourself by name (genuine, or assumed) if you wish
Resolution – HD (1080p)
If possible, use Auto White Balance
Sending the file to Tom – using (free of charge) WeTransfer https://wetransfer.com, email Tom at tokkelossi@protonmail.com

I plan to submit a video myself, and I hope you will join me in doing likewise. If you have any queries, feel free to email me (mike@j4mb.org.uk).
