MEN LEAN OUT: Male managers now less likely to mentor women

I started my business career in 1979, as a graduate trainee with Beecham, and at that time mentoring in the business world was all but unknown. It became more popular over time, invariably with men mentoring women. The unstated objective was to capture knowledge accumulated by men over lengthy periods of time, and hand it on a plate to women, so the careers of the latter could be accelerated at the expense of male colleagues. Mentoring is just one of many manifestations of men having a stronger work ethic than women, the latter wanting senior positions without having to put in the time and effort their male colleagues have to.

I was interested to learn of a consequence of the workplace sexual harassment debacle, men are becoming less inclined to mentor women. About damned time. Let’s see women competing with men as “equals”. Our thanks to Sean for this (video, 9:49).

Cassie Jaye will be attending the conference

We’re delighted to report that Cassie Jaye, the American filmmaker behind the groundbreaking film The Red Pill, will be joining us at the conference in July. She’ll be happy to stand for pictures, sign autographs, and will have The Red Pill merchandise available for purchase. She would also like to do interviews with some attendees for her YouTube channel. Evan Davies, who did all the camera work on The Red Pill, will be bringing his equipment. If you would like to be interviewed, let them know by sending an email to: info@theredpillmovie.com

We’re delighted too that Barry Wright, a Norwich-based man, will also be attending the conference. He generously funded two screenings of The Red Pill in January 2017, and paid for the travel and accommodation of a number of people including Cassie, Erin Pizzey, Paul Elam, DoctorRandomercam and myself. A couple of photographs taken during that time, starting with Barry and Cassie:

Rebecca Miller, 39-year-old prison officer, causes the death of Clive Mauger, 69-year old retired security guard, by dangerous driving. Her prison sentence will be suspended.

Our thanks to Joe for this. Miller had put a double mattress on the roof of her SUV, tying them down with bungee cords. Extracts:

A woman who caused another driver’s death when a mattress fell from her car roof is to be spared a jail sentence.

Rebecca Miller was in the process of moving home as the double mattress was dislodged from her Peugeot 2008 SUV on the busy A229 dual carriageway at Blue Bell Hill.

The mattress landed in the outside lane and in the path of retired security guard Clive Mauger’s Peugeot 206, Maidstone Crown Court heard.

He was unable to swerve out of the way and his car clipped the mattress, careered off the road and hit a tree.

The 69-year-old grandfather, who was travelling at about 60mph, was killed instantly.

Miller, a prison officer from Aylesford, told police she would not have driven if she had had any concerns about the load, which was held on by five “bungee” cords…

Adjourning sentence until Wednesday – Miller’s 40th birthday – Judge Julian Smith indicated he would suspend a prison sentence.

It was poor decision making, he said, that caused the fatal crash. [J4MB: No shit, Sherlock. So Miller shouldn’t bear any responsibility, because vagina.]…

Miller, who has served in the armed forces, admitted she did not check the bungee cords herself. [J4MB: Presumably checking bungee cords would be a job for an equally-paid man, in the armed forces.]

“She did grab the mattress and it didn’t move so she thought it was fastened safely and securely,” said Mr Hearnden.

We need more female prison officers.

An invitation to join Mike Buchanan in promoting the July conference, in London, on Sunday, 18 February

I’m being interviewed next week for a TV documentary about a prominent gender issue, and two days later – on Sunday, 18 February – will be filmed, along with supporters, engaging with the public in London (venue TBA) promoting the July conference, handing out leaflets etc. The more the merrier, so if you’d possibly like to join us, email me (mike@j4mb.org.uk) ASAP, I’ll start the list now. It will be a rare opportunity to make the point in a TV documentary that many people are concerned about men’s issues. I hope to see you there.

The filming will probably be in the late morning, leaving us free to campaign as usual at Speakers’ Corner in the afternoon.

Jordon Holbrook’s petition: “Create a Minister for Men that operates separately from the Minister for Women”

Please join me in signing this.

The text of the petition:

Create a Minister for Men that operates separately from the Minister for Women
A ‘Minister for Women (and Equalities)’ cannot simultaneously be a ‘Minister for Men’ yet, that is what’s in place. Despite men raising issues in Parliament, men’s issues are not raised. A male-specific voice is required, equality demands it!

Such issues for the Minister for Men to address: Paternity Rights (or, the lack of!) Male Suicide (4x higher than female) Homelessness (approx. 90% male) Education (boys have been failing at every level since the 1990s) Domestic Violence (40% victims are male) False Allegations of Abuse Disparity in health funding (prostate v breast cancer) More information here.
