  1. The public view, especially among males, is as implied here: only males are “perverts” – a term I’ve known being used many times – mainly by other males. This isn’t the case, of course. Some years ago, to get prepared for a beach holiday, I went to the local sports centre (in Pontypool) to use their sunbeds. When I went into the sunbed room, I noticed one of the doors was sealed with sticky tape. I asked the male attendant why this was so. He said: “Oh, that room in there is the women’s changing room, and women have been peeping through the crack and ogling the naked men in here. And some of them have been girls as young as six and eight.”

Wait, what? He’s saying underage girls are sexually curious!?! This is heresy! Roast him at the stake! That’s so unPC even unPC people support being PC on this.

  2. I read this article earlier and found it deeply amusing, because it also reflects female behaviour that I’ve experienced in the workplace too (interestingly, whenever the Guardian has run a ‘shocking’ article about sexual harassment in different social spaces, I’ve been able to think of an instance involving me or a friend and some unwelcome female attention; strangely, we have survived it more or less unscathed). Women’s life experience is so much freer in professional settings – this month I had a colleague come up to me, put her hand on my shoulder and then move it down to my middle back – I would never dream of trying anything like that with a female worker – it would be an open invitation to get the sack and have the scarlet letter of sexual predator planted next to my name. She of course, takes it for granted that she can touch people without thinking about it. The double standards are invisible because there is never any media coverage of men’s issues.

  3. Interesting that at a time when more and more female students willingly work as ‘ escorts’ and more and more women willingly perform web cam shows, they are increasingly complaining about sexual harassment. It does not make sense.
