Nick Langford’s comments on the TCW piece, “David Kurten: Transgenderism and this insane ban on free speech”

Nick Langford is the man behind the ExInjuria blog. He’ll be speaking at ICMI18 on the topic, ‘An exercise in utter futility: How feminism, falsehood and myth changed the landscape of family law’. Earlier today he posted some comments in response to our blog piece on the TCW article, David Kurten: Transgenderism and this insane ban on free speech, they’re reproduced here in full:

When was the last time the Westminster Parliament actually debated anything controversial – really debated? All debates now on matters such as transexualism, domestic violence, gay marriage, the family courts, etc, etc, are simply a succession of MPs parroting the PC line. Anyone who takes an opposing view – if there are still such people in Parliament – doesn’t dare express it. Gareth Bennett, who probably shares the views of many of his constituents, was either very brave or very naive.

I am coming to the view that this new totalitarianism, which seeks to impose radical ideology without putting up a single argument in its favour and uses the law rather than reasoning to propagate itself, is far more dangerous than feminism, though they are related through their Marxist ancestor.

I was having a conversation with a transgender person recently who said he (her preferred pronoun) despaired at those who pretend to identify as an alternative race or even species: it was giving transgenderism a bad name. I replied that logically I could not see any difference. Society needs to be able to debate these issues freely and express its views; the advocates of the ideology need to argue their case rationally and show the science which proves their case.

Of course, it won’t happen. Anyone who opposed gay marriage on legal grounds, or because it represents a profound failure to understand the true purpose of marriage, was dismissed as a bigot and homophobe, removing any need to argue the case.

Meanwhile, the so-called ‘Conservative’ government will continue to introduce new PC legislation for which no one has voted, and principles such as freedom of speech, democracy and due legal process will vanish into history.

  1. Totally agree with the dangerous Orwellian shift. The use of the law and police to deal with differing views, the idea of “no platform” that comes from the cultural Marxists. It has become linked to that old feminist favourite the use of weakness as a weapon. The justification of legal silencing to “protect” supposedly “vulnerable” people. In feminism and anti racism practice has been built up that honed the idea of words being the same as deeds and contrary views and evidence being an “assault”. Feminism in particular learned that simply being open and engaging in debate all too often exposed their views as out of step with most women’s views as well as reality. Hence so often women will not want to identify as “feminist” because of its connotations of being “way out”. Similarly the anti racism lobby struggles to find examples of racism and “far right” groups and so has to rely increasingly on shutting up, especially as the old bogey man Hitler becomes a more distant figure.
However annoying the internet feminists such as “everyday sexism” tend to be easy to lampoon as they frequently look ridiculous (currently loads of jokes about “knee touching” doing the rounds even on the hallowed Beeb.) Far far more dangerous are the secretive feminists and other “ists” in the “political” system. Producing gagging legislation or even more effective “guidance” on perfectly equitable laws that make public institutions act as tyrants in order to “protect”.

  2. Their biggest victories were already won decades ago, and are just now being taken to their logical conclusions – the idea that hate (the emotion) should be legislated against, as opposed to people who commit crimes out of hate being punished for breaking the law, and the idea that being a Special Snowflake means you are allowed to override other people’s civil liberties (due process, free speech etc etc) have both come together in a predictably toxic way.

My only consolation is that the fallout is also hitting the Snowflakes themselves – black public figures getting felled by sexual harassment accusations, lesbian feminists being booted out of places by transgendered “wymin” and feminists getting shut down on FB for hate speech against men. Who knows how long it will be before they negotiate exemptions for themselves, but I for one intend to enjoy it as long as it lasts.
