Tories Set Race and Gender Quotas For Public Bodies

Our thanks to Ray for this. An excerpt:

The Tory government has demanded that 50 per cent of all 5,500 public appointments in Britain go to women, and 14 per cent to ethic minorities.

Constitution minister Chris Skidmore unveiled the targets, which the government wants to see met by 2022, as part of the Cabinet Office’s 10-point Diversity Action Plan on Thursday…

Of the five and a half thousand public appointees currently in post across large institutions and public bodies, 43 per cent are women and 10 per cent are from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Mr Skidmore said that while he welcomed the soaring numbers of female appointees since the first targets were put in place, [J4MB emphasis] “there’s more we need to do across all aspects of diversity.”

Launching the Diversity Action Plan, which he said “will make public appointments even more open and accessible to all”, [J4MB: The unsubstantiated implication being, of course, that the public appointments aren’t already FULLY ‘open and accessible to all’] the constitution minister said:

“We need diverse ideas and perspectives at the helm of our public bodies, so it is vital that public appointees truly reflect the society they serve.” [J4MB: The classic self-serving argument used to justify the appointment of ever more women to cushy well-paid jobs, regardless of their merit.]

Breitbart London has previously reported instances in which the Tory government has made this assertion about diversity, as part of its drive to reduce the number of white men across British institutions. [J4MB emphasis]

All this from a Conservative government. Mrs T must be spinning in her grave.

  1. “We need diverse ideas and perspectives at the helm of our public bodies.” So we will impose a dreary blanket of political correctness and feminism upon everything we touch and prevent by law any dissent or independence of thought.

Research, I understand, has demonstrated that organisations with restrictive diversity policies are actually less diverse than organisations without.

    • Yes we can’t have independence of thought . Of course independence of thought might lead people to do the job better but that is not the aim is it.

  2. What did Britain oppose the Communist Empire so vehemently for, when it is now even outdoing it with extreme equality drives? Not even the communist countries had such gender and minorities quotas !
These demands for complete equality are perhaps suitable for kindergarten students’ fragile egos and not for adults at the government level, for heaven’s sake !

    • Well Marty,
my view is it’s because the Cultural Marxism of Gramsci and Marcuse –
the “Totally Administered Society” – (direct descendants of Economc Marxism) are now driving the show as a result of the ‘long march through the institutions’ that’s been going on since it became clear to them that Economic Marxism had failed and that another vehicle to subvert western democracy must be found.
For eighty years or so they’ve been working away quietly behind the scenes playing the long game, and now the cancer is strong enough to start breaking out with visible symptoms.
By the time you get those it means the disease is advanced, and the prognosis is in doubt.
Western style democracy, the child of the ‘enlightenment’, passed the tests of obvious external attack, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin.
Now we face the much more subtle challenge of an internal enemy wearing the invisibility cloak of disguise.

This one’s much more serious and difficult to fight.
I wouldn’t care to call the result, and may not live to see it.

  3. ‘Diversity’ is a code word, a stand in, a disguise and a deceit.

    It means
“let’s damage men, particularly white, hetrosexual, western English men who played a major part in creating the modern world with all it’s convienences, technology and medicine, because they did that and we didn’t, and we’re resentful and jealous like the petty minded children we are”.

    See what they’ve done there?
All that said in just one word!

    And it’s Resentment –
perhaps the most pernicious, corrosive emotion there is.

Which means that at least they’re good at misdirection, mendacity and lies, if nothing else.

    • Women were told they are equal to men in work performance. Everyone can see they are not. Women failed to perform to the same level as men. First they blamed it on the ‘Glass Ceiling’ and when it turned out that was not correct, they demand equal numbers of women everywhere, regardless of performance.. Please someone, overcome your strict gentleman upbringing and just tell them the truth, that they are most fit as mothers and homemakers to stop this horror show already. it’s becoming quite absurd.

  4. Well how about the same quotas for those employed by Government. Surely the people working with the people of this nation should exactly reflect the proportions of that population. So 2% Gay and 49% male and so on. It would make for a far more representative health service for instance. Be good for education. Really help understanding in Social Services . Lets get on with it!

    • Ah, well, that’s obviously the wrong sort of equality, with the majority of public sector employees being women, most doctors (and 70% of medical students) being women, most teachers being women, the vast majority of social workers being women…

      • They would have to sack up to 30% of the female staff……that’s not their equality agenda. Throughout the public sector the images of males are few and far between.
How come if Cotton of LFB can state that Fireman Sam impacts negatively on recruitment, then more pronounced bias is ignored.

  5. We could not – and should not – expect anything better from any political party run by a feminist/cultural marxist, whatever its name is.

If the objective of equality measures is to give us all an equal chance, selection by birth is obviously not appropriate. It matters not whether such selection is heriditary by social class or skin colour, or gender. It has no place in a society aiming to be equal.

If the objective is to be representative, then Dept. of Trade should have a higher ethnic proportion, Dept. of Work should have a higher male proportion (though Dept. of pensions should have a far higher female proportion) and the Dept. of Marriages should be staffed from the loony bin.
