  1. Happy to sign. As reported on J4MB there was a significant success in challenging the practice of some helplines “screening” male callers. This was shown to be unlawful. The principle being whatever the numbers of male or female victims in any statistics there cannot be sex discrimination at the point of seeking help for the individual. This applies to all parts of the UK covered by the Equality Act. It is the first “chink in the armour” of the DV industry which has always claimed that as men are supposedly a tiny minority of victims then they can be ignored or even considered liars if approaching services for help. Please do sign this and use FOI requests to ask what services near to you are doing about this. Particularly Local Authorities about refuge and safe housing and Crime Commissioners on any local helplines they commission.
