    • Well William, let me suggest the reason for those shocking comments from men, is that men have evolved to be in competition with other men (not women) and another man without his, er, accoutrements is one less competitor.
Now, I wish to make it clear I hate and deplore this too, but they are merely following their biological predilictions to out breed a rival – sadly in their case empathy may not come into it, and they might not even have insight into their own motivation.

    • There is one area where I agree with the feminist concept of “toxic masculinity”. That is that as a group, men fail to have compassion for other men in the same way women do for other women. Men failing to care for other men is a toxic part of the male collective consciousness.

I think that men have this “macho” and “tough guy” attitude where they think they are are not allowed to have empathy for other men, that caring for other men somehow makes them less macho. The opposite is true, a real man, a real alpha male, would care about other men just as much as he cares about women. A real man would recognize that men are people too, and men’s rights are human rights.

There is also a problem with the male ego, everybody has an ego but it’s stronger in men. Women tend to be narcissistic, men tend to be egotistical. Most men are too proud and egotistical to admit they are a victim; if they are a victim of MGM most will claim to love that they mutilated and can’t acknowledge that they were harmed. This is coming from a place of protecting the ego. Women have an easier time letting go of their ego, and acknowledging when they are harmed.

So there are aspects of masculinity that are toxic, but it’s not in the way that feminists present it. There are also aspects of femininity that are toxic, which feminists ignore. Both genders need a renaissance, and an upgrade from from cavemen to the 21st century.

  1. The Daily Mail is publishing the victim’s full name and photograph.

The Mirror has enough decency to blur the man’s face to protect his anonymity. There is no reason why the Daily Mail can’t do the same.

Are there laws in the UK about media publishing the identify of victims of sexual assault? There is no doubt that this man is a victim of horrendous sexual assault. Even if there is no law, the media should not publish victim’s details out of decency. As if the victim is not already hurt enough, now let’s post his identify all over the internet.

I have no doubt that if a female was a victim of a comparable crime, the media would NEVER publish her identity, regardless of if there was a law or not. In fact, they would gloat in the article that they are not revealing the victim’s identity to protect her anonymity.

I think the media needs to be petitioned to take cases of males being victims more seriously. It would be a very small step in the right direction, but every step counts towards building a more equitable society.
