  1. Andrew.
    Poor, brave,
    Man.

The truth is that men have been women’s defenders, protectors – and providers also – since the year dot.
That’s how it worked, and in return she gave him children.

    That’s how it worked.

Women to this day when surprised, alarmed or frightened scream instinctively and automatically (men you notice don’t do this).
For this would bring every man in the tribe running with his club, spear, stone axe or what have you, to defend, protect and save her.

That’s how it worked you see.

And to this day most women who are not too young, indoctrinated or perhaps just plain stupid know this too.

Any claims to the contrary are false, attempted deceit, or just plain lies, and uttered with an ulterior (often political) purpose.

That’s how it works you see…

  2. As I recall Dr Warren Farrell’s brother died in similar circumstances saving his girlfriend from an avalanche. Adding poignancy to the “disposable male”. in the Myth of Male Power. Thinking of the car insurance story it shows there are always trade offs. In one sense male willingness to take risks and discount their own safety is very much a part of countless brave acts but also can have negative consequences if “reckless”. As Dr. Farrell pointed out if one simply concentrates on foolish young man in a Fiesta and ignores the Fireman bounding towards danger, all one will see is “toxic”.
In a sense the statistics for death and serious injury in work speaks volumes. For without men willing to work with massive machinery, at height, with dangerous substances, in wild weather and so on, willing to take risks and “have a go”. Our lives would simply grind to a halt. Simply consider after a storm what it takes to “restore power to 3000 homes”. “Reckless” indeed to swing about up a pylon in wind and rain working with electricity.
