Up until about an hour ago I deliberately refrained from acquainting myself with the details of the George Hook controversy, though, being Irish and living in Ireland I was, of course, aware of it (it would be practically impossible not to be even if one were a Trappist monk living in a monastery).
However, when I came across this item on ‘j4mb’ I decided to set my restraint aside and watch Sean’s video in order to find out what the controversy was all about, and, in particular, to find out the nature of Mr Hook’s supposedly outrageous comments.
Having watched Sean’s video, my conclusion is that, not only did Mr Hook say nothing wrong, what he said was entirely reasonable. As for his critics, be they in the mainstream Irish media or anywhere else inside or outside Ireland, I hold them in contempt.
