Origin and Development of a Suffragette

Our thanks to Ray for this, in a Twitter stream with a comment by Laurie Penny:

Most of the interesting women you know are far, far angrier than you’d imagine.

    • Yes. She libelled me in a piece in the NS 4-5 years ago, intimating (after a 1:1 interview in London) that I was homeless.

    • Yes. Used to peddle her trademark vacuous nonsense in the Guardian but it seems even they got fed up with her – I don’t see her “articles” there any more. And it takes a rare “talent” to out-PC the Graun! The NS is, of course, unreadable.

  1. So obviously we all get it (I laughed out loud), but to play devil’s advocate: won’t humourless but otherwise open-minded non-MRAs sometimes visit this site, see a gag like this, and be put off? Some fairly reasonable but uninitiated people might see the message ‘manic suffragettes had the same life cycle as modern-day feminazis’ and think it’s arguing that the causes of the two groups are equally flawed, i.e. that votes for women are as harmful as, say, the systematic destruction of the nuclear family, the demonisation of 50% of the population, the undermining of the right of free speech etc.

(Unless I’ve misread this post and it is actually against female suffrage? Not my personal opinion, but a valid view some MRAs hold.)
