Michelle Spencer, 48, stabbed her boyfriend (43) to death with a kitchen knife after abusing him (and other men) for YEARS. Jailed for at least 13 years.

Our thanks to Jeff for this. Excerpts:

A mother-of-two stabbed her partner to death through the heart with a kitchen knife during a ‘sudden outburst of unreasoned anger’, a court heard.

Michelle Spencer, 48, had abused her partner, David Butterfield, 43, for years when she turned on him earlier this year and killed him.

Just minutes before her trial was due to start at Leeds Crown Court today, Spencer chose to plead guilty to murder and was jailed for 13 years.

Police have revealed Mr Butterfield, described as a ‘hard working Yorkshireman’, had suffered domestic abuse in silence for years as he chose not to report his ordeal.

It also emerged Spencer had a history of violence and also abused her previous partners… [J4MB emphasis]

Jailing Spencer, Mr Justice Soole said: ‘This was an utterly unprovoked assault with a knife on your innocent partner…

‘The sentence which I imposed is one of imprisonment for life.

With credit for your plea of guilty, I sentence you to a minimum term of 13 years.’… [J4MB: The woman should have received no credit, nor a reduction in her prison sentence, for her plea of guilty. She would undoubtedly have been found guilty anyway (see below).]

Detective Inspector Ben McDonald said the police investigation uncovered a history of unreported violence which Spencer had inflicted on Butterfield and her previous partners. [J4MB emphasis]

He said Spender first tried to claim her partner had been attacked on his way back from the shops and then told detectives it had just been an accident.

But the truth was pieced together by officers and forensic experts.

Spencer was due to go on trial at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday, but admitted murder. She was sentenced at the same court on Thursday by Mr Justice Soole.

Mr McDonald said: “As a result of diligent and meticulous inquiries by the police investigation team, a violent woman has been brought to justice. Having originally lied to the police regarding the circumstances, the team have been able to uncover the facts, which has resulted in a guilty plea.

“Mr Butterfield had suffered domestic abuse at the hands of his partner and ultimately paid the price for the fact that these incidents were never reported to the police. No one, women or men, should suffer domestic violence and I would encourage victims of such incidents to contact the police or Victim Support as soon as possible.”

Police described Mr Butterfield as “a hard working Yorkshireman” who leaves two children, aged 16 and 19.

Saying genius or brilliant ‘can alienate female students’: Cambridge academics are discouraged from using phrases with ‘assumptions of gender inequality’

Cambridge and Oxford universities are openly and unashamedly working to deliver equality of gender outcomes in degree grades (not in degree numbers of course, because 60% of degrees are awarded to women, so there’s no problem to be addressed.) Our thanks to Jeff for this. The start of the piece:

Cambridge academics are being discouraged from using terms such as genius, brilliant or flair in feedback for fear of alienating female students.

It is one of a series of moves lecturers say will help women – including changing exams and even removing portraits of men from the library.

Dr Lucy Delap, lecturer in modern British history, said ‘vague talk of genius, brilliance [and] flair carries assumptions of gender inequality’. She said some women ‘don’t find it very easy to project themselves into those categories’. [J4MB: Hmm, might the same be true for ‘some men’?]

Some female students suffered ‘imposter syndrome’ – where they feel they don’t belong – in a ‘male-dominated’ environment, said the academic. Dr Delap revealed exams were being overhauled in a bid to tackle a ‘gender differential’ which sees women outshone.

This could mean more coursework, take-home exams, [J4MB: a cheat’s charter] group work or a portfolio of essays. [J4MB: Basically, anything and everything which can help raise the grades of women relative to men, because vagina.]

Later in the piece:

In 2015-16, 31 per cent of women gained firsts in history at Cambridge compared with 39 per cent of men. A university spokesman said it was reviewing subjects to see how it could address ‘variations’ between different groups. [J4MB: Presumably a key explanation of why a higher proportion of men than women get firsts is precisely the same as in other areas in which men and women compete. More men than women are ‘work-centred’, i.e. they have a strong work orientation – Dr Hakim’s Preference Theory (2000)]

Feminists demand ‘variations between different groups’ be stamped out at all costs, needless to say. Other than in areas such as healthcare provision, workplace deaths, killing unborn children, genital mutilation, access to children, support for domestic violence victims, homelessness, prison sentencing… you know, the small stuff.

Lucy Delap’s webpage at the University of Cambridge is here. Her apparent inability to smile even for a moment for an official photograph strongly suggests she’s a feminist, and as a feminist ‘academic’, by definition a taxpayer-funded parasite. Her biography on the same page confirms it:

Lucy Delap is a historian of modern Britain, with a particular interest in gender history, the history of feminism…

Danielle Morris, 29-year-old ‘Mum’, faked DNA paternity test. Jailed for only 12 months.

Our thanks to Jeff and others for this.

Paternity fraud is widespread, whether it’s in the form of women deliberately frustrating contraceptive methods (e.g. not take the contraceptive pill, without the knowledge of their partner) or in the form of misleading men into believing they’re the biological fathers of children, when they’re not. The solution to the problem is simple and inexpensive:

Mandatory paternity testing at birth.

We explored the matter in our 2015 general election manifesto, pp. 52-4.

Paul Elam: A thank you to all for another ICMI success

Following 36 hours of travelling from Eastern Australia, I’ve just had a much-needed nine hours’ sleep. It was good to wake up to this. We hope Paul will be able to make it to ICMI18. Possible host cities were being discussed at the conference.

Sunrise TV interview of Cassie Jaye

The conference ended with the screening of a scandalous interview (video, 7:30) recorded and broadcast yesterday morning. Cassie Jaye performed magnificently in the face of ignorance and despicable hostility, and was loudly applauded by the audience.

Sexism row at Oxford University over claim sitting exams at home ‘will close gender gap’

Our thanks to Jeff for this. The start of the piece:

Oxford University is embroiled in a sexism row after its history department said allowing students to sit exams at home would help close the gender gap.

History students will be able to sit one of their five final-year exams at home from the start of next semester, the faculty has announced.

It was claimed the policy would help female students improve their results.

Why doesn’t the university simply give women twice as long as men to sit their exams? This too would ‘help close the gender gap’. Likewise a policy of raising the scores of people with vaginas by 25% (up to a maximum of 100%).
