William Collins: Higher Education Entrance by Sex (2016)

I’m enjoying a warm sunny day in Gold Coast – it’s the middle of the Australian ‘winter’ – and there’s a real buzz developing around the conference, which starts tomorrow. As I was leaving my hotel this morning, a workman spotted my J4MB shirt and connected it with the conference, saying he’d been impressed by ‘an amazing young Canadian woman’ interviewed at length on Sky. He meant Karen Straughan, of course, and we’ll post a link to that interview as soon as we can. In the meantime, a new piece by William Collins.

AVfM / J4MB advert for the Gold Coast conference… on the side of a plane.

Sometimes campaigning organizations need to invest money to make an impact, and what better way to do that, than to put an advert on the side of a plane? Buckle up, and listen to Captain Paul Elam’s soothing words – here (video, 0:51).

Our thanks to Tom Corniche, a commercial pilot, for the video.

BBC: Doctor ‘acted illegally’ by circumcising boy

Our thanks to John for this. As we often find with headlines above BBC pieces about men’s and boys’ issues, it would have been more truthful with the omission of inverted commas:

Doctor acted illegally by circumcising boy.

High Court Support Programme 2017 for ‘under-represented groups’

Our thanks to Mark for this – an initiative to address the invented ‘problem’ of most High Court judges being white men. No evidence is provided to support the implied contention that ‘under-represented groups’ – including women, as always – are being disadvantaged in attaining such positions on the grounds of merit.
