Deanha Neely, 32, drug addict of no fixed abode, killed Derek Taylor, 71, with a hammer and axe, then stole £7,500 from his bank account to go on a spending spree. Charged and convicted of manslaughter, rather than murder, because of her ‘loss of control’, just 12 years in jail.

Our thanks to Stu for this. You have to ask, if person A kills person B with a hammer and axe, isn’t ‘a loss of control’ to be taken for granted? I would assume if the genders were reversed, the man would have been charged with. and convicted of, murder – with the far longer prison sentence that would entail. Neely will be 44 at the most when she’s released, with a reasonable expectation of a further 40+ years of life expectancy.

If everyone who read this gave us just £1 – or even better, £1 monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference. Thanks.

  1. Guilty of loss of control?

    Ok, that’s understandable then.

For a moment there I’d jumped to the conclusion it might be murder.
But all’s well that ends well.
