‘Feminism: The Ugly Truth’: new ebook edition available

An updated ebook edition of my book Feminism: The Ugly Truth, originally published in 2012, has just been published. It’s available on all e-readers. Confusingly, on Amazon websites the publication date is still shown as February 2012, but if you click on the ‘Look Inside’ facility, you’ll see it’s the new edition because of the 2017 date on the publisher’s page at the start. You’ll also be able to read the first 12 chapters for free, including a new first chapter, ‘Feminists are liars’.

Compared with the 2012 edition, the new edition has a new Introduction, two new chapters, and four new Appendices.

The Kindle edition is available to buy from Amazon UK here, from Amazon US here.

Lorraine Atkinson: Violent and dangerous places – the rise in prison suicides in England and Wales

Our thanks to Mo for this lengthy piece on the website ‘openDemocracyUK’. Lorraine Atkinson is a Senior Policy Officer at the Howard League for Penal Reform. As we’d expect from anyone working for the HLPR, there’s not a single sentence in the article referring to the gendered nature of prisons, with 95% of prisoners being men.

The HLPR is not alone in its anti-male bias. The following can be found on our party’s Wikipedia page, the statements by Jenny Earle of the Prison Reform Trust are outright lies:

The party co-hosted the second International Conference on Men’s Issues in London, between 8 and 10 July 2016 in association with A Voice for Men. Conservative member of parliament Philip Davies, a member of the Justice Select Committee, spoke to the conference asserting that the criminal justice system favours women’s over men’s rights. [J4MB: He provided plenty of evidence to prove his ‘assertion’.]

Jenny Earle, director of Prison Reform Trust’s programme for reducing women’s imprisonment [J4MB: our emphasis – the PRT has no programme for reducing men’s imprisonment] in response said, “The evidence is not that women are treated more leniently. In fact they are twice as likely as men to receive a custodial sentence for a first offence, and the main offence for which women are imprisoned is theft and shoplifting”.

At times people have posted evidence on our Wikipedia entry, proving that these statements are lies, but that material has always been removed by feminist editors. Last month we posted a piece, Feminist manipulations of the J4MB Wikipedia entry. It includes an example of the text removed by feminist editors.

ICMI17 presentations and press conference video fundraiser – just £142 left to raise

With only TWO WEEKS remaining before the next International Conference on Men’s Issues in Australia, Anthony Corniche is just £142 short of his stretch target of £2,672 for video recording and editing of the presentations and press conference.

The videos will be made available and free to watch on the J4MB and AVfM websites in the weeks following the conference. Anthony did a great job filming and editing the talks at the London conference last July – here (scroll down to 8-10 July) – and once again, he’ll be earning nothing personally for all his efforts.

The fundraiser is here. Anthony recently posted this on the website:

Everyone who has and will donate is going to get a credit on the videos when released.

The bigger the donation, the bigger the credit text.

I will contact donors when in editing process around the end of June or early July.

Please donate what you can. Thanks.

New York considering legalizing late-term abortions, allowing abortion up to birth

Appalling. The end of the piece:

The abortion rate already is extremely high in New York. In 2012, 101,674 of New York’s children lost their lives to induced abortion – the highest abortion rate in the nation, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The statistics are even more startling in New York City. Approximately 40 percent of pregnancies in New York City end in abortion. Among African Americans in New York City, that number climbs to 60 percent, according to city health department data.

Our position on abortion is outlined in our 2015 general election manifesto (pp. 5,6).

8 June: Australian Men’s Rights Association Inaugural Social BBQ #icmi

8 June is the day before the first day of the third International Conference on Men’s Issues. Bryan Scandrett of Men’s Rights Brisbane (MRB) has just emailed me this. He writes:

Be proud to host yourself and as many of your compatriots as can make it to the BBQ on the Thursday.

Please let them know we would love to welcome them with an Australian BBQ, a swim at the beach and a sound thrashing at cricket.

Oh, yeah, I said it! Shots fired!
