Our thanks to Vic for pointing us to yet another gym committing a criminal offence under the Equality Act 2010. I’m about to call them (0121 386 4030).
If everyone who read this gave us just £1 – or even better, £1 monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference. Thanks.

Good. This sort of “benign sexism” does need challenging. I suspect if thee was a concerted effort to use the provisions of the Equality Act as it is written the support for it would wane. Of course the feminists have been keen to support the view its for women. but the act is gender neutral and situational, so discrimination against men is unlawful. And while “positive action” is allowed it hast to be justified and reasonable (for instance “women only” swimming sessions is effectively sanctioned for religious or cultural reasons and can only form a small part of the timetable). This is the reason there has to be a special Act of Parliament to alow for “all women” lists for MPs.And this has to be renewed because it cannot be permanent.
So do all challenge local manifestations of such discrimination.

This is something I remember well from my youth.
Dances, discos other social events and entertainments would usually let girls in for a lower price, and quite often for free.
I was sometimes a bit miffed about this, but came to the conclusion that not much privilege on the one hand, or misandry or even just misplaced chivalry on the other, was involved.
The fact was these places were, for some reason, almost bereft of anything in a skirt, (not even a Scotsman) just boys.
Given that they were run to make money, not as social service, if the girls didn’t come then after a while neither would the boys.
And that, I supposed, would be the end of their business.

I checked the gyms here in Perth and none of them are guilty of this. I’m surprised it’s so common down in England.

Obviously, women are misusing the goodwill and the perks western men accord them. They take it for granted and are exploiting it to the maximum. They figured if men are willing to treat them in a privileged manner in daily social life, why not take it to the professional life as well, and it has now become commonplace throughout the country.
The message is : want to treat women in a privileged manner ? Then do not be surprised when the privilege will be expected and implemented in the professional world as well as the private one.
