University of Cumbria survey: Men’s experiences of conflict and aggression

Our thanks to Nigel for this. From the website:

About the study

The aim of the project is to explore the experiences of men who have been in an intimate relationship with a female partner, where there has been violence and control. Research has demonstrated the frequency of women’s violence towards men but has tended to utilise large scale quantitative surveys. The aim of the current study, by utilising a qualitative method, is to allow the exploration of the experiences of violence within relationships that allow for fuller, more contextual answers and an opportunity to explain in more detail.

If you are – or have been – a victim of conflict and aggression at the hands of a female partner, we urge you to contribute to the study.

If everyone who read this gave us just £1 – or even better, £1 monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference. Thanks.

  1. Done,
and beware to anyone, it is a long one to do( nearly an hour for me)

you may want to consider writing your answers separately in case of the pages go a bit weird and loses your answers( as it did to me!)

  2. Mike there is a similar project done by the university of Bristol
called “research justice and gender based violence” if anyone is interested.

i got it through the respect helpline( whom I thought had previously been a bit weird and only offering to help abusers who are male !)

I have asked the researchers to confirm that gender base violence will include both male and female experiences of abuse( DV) and they said yes

here is a link if anyone is interested.

I know it may seem like a pain to do or that perhaps no one is interested in someones personal experiences, but no one will know ( or even seem to care) unless we attempt to put down our experiences on paper.
