This is an interesting “spin” on the Hypergamy thing. Women prefer “altruistic” men. Who’d have thought it ? Of course they would wouldn’t they if they are looking for someone to “altruistically” pay for them in the future. Why on earth we skirt round the truth women choose (badly or well) good prospects as a provider and men choose good prospects (badly or well) as mothers. So many different ways of dressing this up.

It’s biological for a female to seek the best provider for her future offspring and the male to seek the best potential genes with whom to produce said offspring (which is why men like beautiful women, women like strong / rich men). Applies to many other species as well as us humans. Until very recently this was received wisdom but feminism, perceived rights and ideas of romance and /or personal fulfillment over and above raising families have dispensed with notions of any biological imperative or need in male/female interaction. However we ignore biology at our peril.
