Sarah R – the feminist who keeps on giving

Earlier this evening I posted a piece inspired by an exchange with a feminist, ‘Sarah R’, who was unwilling to learn about MGM and FGM, despite (or maybe because of) having entrenched – and highly uninformed – opinions on both. I’ve made it clear I won’t publish any more comments from her, and deleted some, but, like every Entitlement Princess, she’s the gift that keeps on giving, so herewith another blog piece based on her witterings.

She’s just posted this on our YouTube channel, perhaps in a desperate bid to win a Gormless Feminist of the Month award:

So I’ve had time to go through your blogs and other articles and it’s given me a clearer picture on your beliefs. One mistake you make is that feminism is a part of every woman and young girls life. [What does she mean by ‘a part of’? I honestly don’t understand what point she’s trying to make. Has she been reading someone else’s blogs and articles, by mistake? She believed William Collins’s article on MGM to have been written by me, after all.]

It would be difficult to find a western woman who disagrees with feminism. [It would not be difficult, it turns out. The Fawcett Society – a radical feminist campaign organization Sarah may have heard of – 12 months ago published research showing only 9% of British women identify as feminists. The proportion of women espousing this evil ideology is declining with each year that passes, happily.]

Also have you thought about moving to Saudi Arabia? I heard that you barely see women let alone hear them. They are locked up in their homes all day. Rape and sexual assault is never reported. Or how about Pakistan? That would be right up your ally (sic). They haven’t even heard of the term fgm there. That could only delight you.

A futile attempt to enlighten a feminist about MGM and FGM

On International Men’s Day (2015) we held an anti-MGM protest in Parliament Square, the video (6:30) is here. This afternoon I received some comments on YouTube in response to that video, from ‘Sarah R’, and reproduce them (and my responses) here.

She wrote:

Male circumcision isn’t mutilation. [Yes, it is.] In fgm, the entire clitoris is removed. [No, it isn’t.] In males, that would be the equivalent to cutting of the head of the penis. [No, it wouldn’t be.] The foreskin is a tiny thin membrane that covers the penis [No, it’s not, it’s a substantial and extremely nerve-rich piece of skin which covers the tip of the glans, and has important functions about which you’re evidently ignorant] and in females it would be equivalent to the hymen. [No, it wouldn’t.] It’s not the same and most people who get it done do not want their son to contract STDs and expose other people to them. [That’s very rarely their motivation.] Uncircumcised males are more likely to contract and spread disease. [Where’s your evidence for this?] It’s only logical. [No, it’s not.]

I wrote:

Sarah, I am only publishing your comment because you’re clearly deeply ignorant about both FGM and MGM. The Wiki entry on FGM should help you to start improving your understanding:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_mutilation

The following should help you to start improving your understanding of MGM, and why we oppose it (in addition to the fact it’s illegal in the UK):

http://mra-uk.co.uk/?p=519

The foreskin is a biological equivalent to the clitoral hood, not the hymen.

I’ll be happy to have an exchange when you’ve at least read and absorbed those materials.

I added:

Sarah, another thought. Very few people who have their male offspring circumcised do it for the reasons you state. Which is just as well, because those reasons don’t bear critical examination.

She wrote:

I read your links but I simply cannot equate this mutilation to the mutilation suffered by females as the many females undergo the the destruction and removal of the whole genital area or at least all areas susceptible to great sensitivity. Some girls even have their vaginal opening sowed up and thus will either die due to menstruation or childbirth and will experience infertility and horrendous pain or discomfort in the area for the rest of their lives. I’m not saying male mutilation is not bad because I agree with you that this should not be carried out without the man’s consent. However equating fgm with mgm is quite frankly dishonest.

Uncircumcised men are more susceptible to STDs. You can say that it’s called soap and water but no offence but many men aren’t hugely in favour of frequent cleanliness.

I understand if you wish to campaign for these rights, but why diminish women’s rights in the process. It makes your intentions seem ingenuine like there is an ulterior motive. I’ve watched many of you interviews and you fail to discuss any of these problems without taking a hit of feminism. Campaigning to criminalise fgm and standing for the women who are against this practise shouldn’t feel like a threat nor should you feel it undermines your campaign. That’s why I don’t take you seriously a lot of the times as many of your arguments seem to be driven by your evident dislike of the female population.

I wrote:

Sarah, you could not have read and absorbed the content of both links in 18 minutes, let alone reflected on them properly, and proof of this is that your second contribution is even more ill-informed and ridiculous than the first. Rather than waste any more time on you, I’ll publish a blog post instead.

I’m sorry you don’t take me seriously ‘a lot of the times’, but hopefully I’ll survive the emotional trauma of knowing that.

Have a nice day.

She wrote:

I admit that I didn’t read your Wikipedia article on fgm as it has been well publicised what happens to the body when attacked in this manner. However I did read the other article you gave me thoroughly. I’m a fast reader. I just did not agree with many of the points you made [The article was written by William Collins, not me] as many of them were subjective with little exploration of opposing views. In addition, many of your points were little more than a moan and whine about how terrible women are and how this problem can be attributed to female power. Your movement is a farce and your sincerity is false. But don’t worry, I tend not to take cry babies too seriously.

Thanks for that, just received it in time to include it in my blog piece.

BBC DJ Liz Kershaw finds a story about a woman stabbing her partner hilarious

Our thanks to John for this, broadcast on Sky News this morning. You may need to suffer an ad before the piece, which is between 5:42 – 6:56. Once again, you only need to do a gender switch. Would Ms Kershaw have been so amused by a story about a man stabbing his partner under identical circumstances? Surely not.

A story about Ms. Kershaw’s possible connection with a male colleague’s suicide in 2012 is here.

Mike Buchanan’s statement outside Isleworth Crown Court

Last Friday I appeared at Isleworth Crown Court for my retrial on a charge of obstructing the highway in Parliament Square last June, in the course of an anti-MGM demonstration. There was an interesting development, a short video (1:27) of my statement is here. My thanks to Ian for the legal advice, and to a number of supporters for attending, including Geoff, Mike, Ian, Tom and Ray.

What explains the idiocy of the liberal elite? It’s their education.

A thought-provoking piece by James Bartholomew in the current edition of The Spectator. An extract:

What the elite have been led to believe is that governments make things better. ‘Market failure’ is taught; ‘public-sector failure’ is not. In my own area, they are taught that everything was awful in 19th-century Britain until governments came along to save the day with an ever-bigger welfare state. The importance of friendly societies, voluntary hospitals and so on is omitted. It is rubbish — left-wing propaganda.

But misleading education of this and other kinds rubs off even on those who are not studying history or politics. It comes through in the Times, the Guardian or, in America, the Washington Post or New York Times. In Britain, BBC Radio 4 is the continuation of university propaganda by other means.

Laura Perrins: How to avoid ending up on your own with a cat

Another gem published by the Conservative Woman website, two days ago.

Comments are now closed, but be sure to read the exchange between Herbert Purdy and Laura. Followers of this blog, many of whom are MGTOW, understand that men would need to be clinically insane to marry today in the UK, as in many other developed countries. Extracts from Laura’s piece:

It strikes me that when some women say ‘I really want to get married,’ what they mean is I hope the magic marriage fairy will come along and make it happen. Some women seem to labouring under the impression that Prince Charming really will come out of the forest and kiss them back to life. Well let me tell you ladies: Prince Charming is Dead. The evil feminists killed him so you are going to have to do a bit more work to make this life plan a reality…

Finally, what makes for a good husband really deserves a blog on its own, but in brief you should avoid all commitment-phobes, [definition – men who are disinclined to become slaves to women] Tinder addicts, or anyone who reads The Guardian in a serious fashion.

Ella Whelan: The Women’s March on Washington is a pointless protest for middle-class feminists

Our thanks to Martin for this piece in the International Business Times (IBT). Ella Whelan has written numerous insightful articles for spiked, and it seems that holding Anti-Life views (in relation to the unborn, anyway) is obligatory for that site’s writers. Other than that, a good article, and I’m particularly heartened to see it published by IBT.

In March 2015 I was commissioned by IBT to provide some balance in their output of pieces about gender-related matters. I would be free to write on any matters I wished, in a fortnightly column.

The website already had two British feminist commentators on gender-related matters including Laura Bates of The Everyday Sexism Project, twice a winner of our ‘Lying Feminist of the Month’ awards. To the best of my knowledge, this was the first time that an anti-feminist MRA anywhere in the world had been given a regular platform by a mainstream media outlet.

I was commissioned with an open-ended contract, and I was looking forward to providing pieces for years to come. I decided to start with what I considered uncontroversial pieces. The first was on gender balance in corporate boardrooms, the second on suicide, the leading cause of death of men under 50 in the UK.

A few days after the publication of the second article, I received the following email from my Commissioning Editor at IBT:

Hi Mike, I hope all’s good with you.

We’ve had a chat as a senior editorial group and unfortunately we think it’s best to terminate the relationship we have with you.

Your articles for us have been balanced and backed by evidence, which is fine. But we realise you have courted controversy for other articles you have written, and we feel this isn’t the best image for the IBT brand going forward.

Please understand that we will continue to seek balance in our coverage of gender issues, and we will keep a close eye on the progress of J4MB. We may well be interested in doing an interview with you in the lead-up to May’s election.

You will, of course, be paid in full for what you have written for us.

I hope you understand our position on this, and, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to raise them with me. Good luck for the election.

A few days after receiving this email, I learned that IBT had introduced ‘balance’ against their two (female) feminist commentators by recruiting Ally Fogg, a (male) feminist Guardian columnist.

Our Wikipedia page is incorrect about the reason IBT cancelled my contract. It states:

J4MB is the only political party in the English-speaking world campaigning for the human rights of men and boys on many fronts.[peacock term] It is also the only anti-feminist political party in the English-speaking world[3] and has become the subject of controversy in the British media, having been covered in articles[4][5][6][7][8][9] and in television,[10] radio[11] and print[3][12] interviews. This led to the commissioning of Mike Buchanan as a columnist by the International Business Times, the relationship was terminated because his submitted (but unpublished) articles courted controversy…[13] [my emphasis]

At the time of the contract cancellation there were no submitted (but unpublished) articles, and I had not yet decided what the topics of ensuing articles would be. It seems unlikely that the cancellation was the result of anything other than feminist protests at even one anti-feminist MRA in the world having a regular media platform.

Jan Moir on (actress) January Jones – ‘Her misandry is selfish and odd’

Our thanks to Jeff for pointing us to Jan Moir’s column in yesterday’s Daily Mailhere. You’ll need to scroll down to the piece about January Jones.

Jeff sent it because he considers it (as I do) a rare occurrence of the word ‘misandry’ in the mainstream media, without explanation. It suggests that a word that not too long ago was unknown to the vast majority of people – those without a strong interest in gender politics – is at last becoming familiar to many.
