I was in Isleworth Crown Court this morning, agreeing a number of issues with respect to my forthcoming retrial in connection with the charge of obstructing the public highway on 1 June 2016 in Parliament Square, during one of our larger protests against MGM. The video of that arrest (and our earlier protests outside the Home Office and in Parliament Square) is here (14:52).
A video recorded outside Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court, where I was tried and found guilty by a female judge on 12 October, is here (8:36). Our legal advisor was of the view that she didn’t take due account of our legal arguments, hence our insistence on a retrial in a Crown Court.
The retrial is due to start at 14:00 on 6 January at Isleworth Crown Court (36 Ridgeway Road, Isleworth, Middx TW7 5LP) and two hours have been allowed for the case to be heard. There won’t be a jury.
It was very heartening to have supporters attend the trial at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court, and all were in the public gallery during the trial. People will again be admitted to the public gallery on 6 January, I hope to see some of you there. Please email me (mike@j4mb.org.uk) if you hope to be there. Thanks.
