What happened when Kevin O’Sullivan was charged with a hate crime
Kevin O’Sullivan is a television critic and pundit who regularly appears on TV and radio. In today’s edition of The Spectator he relates the details of a ridiculous accusation of having carried out a homophobically motivated assault on a man during a train journey – here. His career would have been over if he’d been found guilty, he writes. Hiring a legal team cost him £15,000. Alison Saunders should be fired.

Here we go again. Three inquiry chairwomen have resigned in the space of two years, the latest (a New Zealand judge appointed by Theresa May, when she was Home Secretary) despite having an astonishing financial package, after being revealed in yesterday’s (Thursday’s) Times as having spent an extraordinary amount of time outside the UK since her appointment. So what might be done to bring the series of resignations to an end? Here’s a crazy idea, please bear with me. Maybe a chairman could be appointed, next time?
