Our thanks to a number of people for sending us this. An extract:
Announcing the court’s decision, Lady Justice Hallett said the judges heard “fresh evidence” during the appeal hearing on 22 and 23 March. She said: “In summary, we have concluded that we must allow the appeal and that it is in the interests of justice to order a retrial.”
The court quashed Mr Evans’s conviction and declared: “The appellant will be retried on the allegation of rape.”
They could still come to the same verdict. The calibre of jurors is poor.

I’m usually less than sympathetic about the antics of the young rich and famous. However its pretty clear this was a “political” prosecution and case by the police force, CPS and Judiciary anxious to make an “example” and prove themselves. as always the system will not want to “lose” this high profile case (as it calls into question a number of others). whatever the Jurors calibre those advising them won’t be keen to open up the case. .
