The Suffragettes were not the only women to be more concerned with themselves than with the slaughter in France. Maria Dicken set herself to starting a charity to relieve the suffering not of wounded serving men but the pets of the poor. The PDSA celebrates its centenary in 2017.
Some women’s priorities defy reason and beggar belief.

Well, knock me down with a white feather and send me to the Somme. Who would have thought that feminist feelings would reign supreme over horrid, nasty, masculine facts in this item of Hollywooden nonsense? It is history, not love, that lies bleeding here…
