Sir James Munby, President of the Family Division, shies away from controversial MGM debate

An interesting piece published six months ago on the Researching Reform website, even if the ignorance displayed in some of the ensuing comments may make you despair.

We shall be devoting a considerable proportion of our time and resources in the foreseeable future on the bid – with other organizations – to end non-therapeutic genital mutilation of male minors in the UK. We believe it is a highly ‘winnable’ issue, in part because it’s clearly in breach of both UK and EU law.

When – not if – that battle has been won, it will provide a huge boost to ending the many other assaults on the human rights of men and boys, as outlined in our 80-page-long 2015 general election manifesto.

Everyone with an interest in the human rights of men and boys should be deeply concerned about non-therapeutic MGM. We strongly recommend a recent article by William Collins on the matter – here.
