I can’t help wondering whether the lifeguard was trying to make a joke, when she said that the baby was particularly unwelcome in the vicinity of the pond because he had a penis. There is a Balls Pond area in London, although I don’t think it actually contains a pond as such. There is a Balls Pond that is a pond in Blaenavon, but that’s a long way to travel.
It makes a nice change for the Mail to have a story about political INCORRECTNESS gone mad, for once.
Of course, the rule, to prevent children who can walk or crawl drowning themselves, is not one that it is sensible to enforce against a babe in arms.
In the light of the Public Sector Equality Duty, the council had better now review its arrangement with the voluntary association that discriminates, on grounds of both age and gender.
