RAF nurse who treated wounded soldiers awarded £560,000 compensation after suing Ministry of Defence for sex discrimination when she was passed over for promotion because she was female

After the last blog post, about a common-sense verdict in a sex discrimination case, it’s back to business as usual. Female tribunal judge hands £560,000 of taxpayers’ money (72% of it paid for by men) to another woman.

  1. This is an outrageous case. If you read the article you will find that no one other than the judge claimed that gender was an issue. The RAF preferred the man because he is a doctor, whereas the woman complainant is a nurse. I presume there is nothing illegal in giving preference to a doctor over a nurse – so the judge made it into a gender issue so as to be able to award compensation.
