Ferrero: STOP Making SEXIST Kinder Eggs!

Another one for the ‘you couldn’t make this s*** up!’ file. I’m about to put it on our website http://thealternativesexismproject.wordpress.com and I invite you to place comments there. This morning I received an email from ‘Change.org’ which started off promisingly:

Mike – There’s a new petition taking off on Change.org, and we think you might be interested in signing it.

Then I read the following, with mounting disbelief. A petition has been launched by a London-based ray of sunshine, Jessica Holland. She writes:

For some utterly bizarre reason, the marketing people behind the beloved children’s treat “Kinder Egg” have decided to take us back to 1955 with their new gender stereotyped campaign.

Apparently, children must choose between the pink fashion dolls choice or the blue sprinty ranges.

As a child, I adored the Kinder “Surprise” range, the whole joy being the surprise of the toy inside. Now that element seems to have been denied to our young generation, and they will only get a suitably gender stereotyped toy.

In terms of reinforcing outdated and indeed dangerous stereotypes in young children, this is an appalling step backwards! We really need to get this range off our shelves as soon as possible, and allow children the joy of a being able to play with one of the few truly gender neutral toys out there.

There is no doubt this is shocking sexism, and both dangerous and stifling to children’s development.

We need to promote equality in the next generation, not put young people into boxes which define their future opportunities and potential.

Please Kinder, stop this outrageous campaign at once and give children back their surprise.

A link to the petition is below. It will doubtless shortly meet its target of 5,000 signatures. I’m thinking of signing it myself, just so I can then leave a comment thanking Ms Holland for being the genius behind a petition which proves yet again that gender feminists are whiny and pathetic.

A Voice for Men

We’re often asked to recommend sources of information for people concerned by the ever-worsening assaults on the human rights of men and boys, and to people wishing to understand more about gender feminism, a hate-driven female supremacy movement which has wrought havoc for the past 30+ years across much of the developed world, including the UK. It has done this mainly through manipulating state institutions, although British men collectively pay 72% of the income tax collected in the UK, and British women only 28%.

We’ve now reached the point where it’s difficult even for people working full-time in these fields (such as ourselves) to keep well-informed of developments in the men’s human rights movement (MHRM). We alone recommend nearly 200 blogs and websites https://j4mbdotorgdotuk.wordpress.com/recommended-blogs-and-other-websites/ and over 50 books https://j4mbdotorgdotuk.wordpress.com/recommended-books/.

Given that people lead busy lives, how might they best keep a finger on the pulse of the MHRM? Email me mike@j4mb.org.uk if there’s a particular topic you’re keen to explore, but if you have time to follow only one website, J4MB recommends you follow an American website, ‘A Voice for Men’ http://avoiceformen.com – AVfM. We have no formal links with the site, but we’ve long been impressed by the quality of the materials they publish, and we’ve been vocal in our support.

AVfM exclusively revealed our plans to launch a political party (link to the piece below) and they’ve published other pieces by us, both before and since.

http://www.avoiceformen.com/feminism/government-tyranny/fighting-feminism-lets-get-political/

AVfM is by far the most popular, the most visited men’s advocacy site on the internet, and with good reason. The site relentlessly and fearlessly tells the unvarnished truth about assaults on men’s and boys’ interests across the world, and ruthlessly exposes the lies told by gender feminists.

The prime tactic used by AVfM’s enemies to dissuade people from visiting the site is to claim that the people running the site, and those submitting materials, and commenters, are misogynists. Nothing could be further from the truth, but don’t take our word for it. We recommend you subscribe for a month, and make up your own mind. We’ve been making that recommendation to people for almost a year, and not one person has said to us after a month that they’ve found the site to be misogynistic. Almost all have found it an eye-opening experience and they continue to subscribe, read, watch, and listen to the truth.

As further evidence that the people running the site aren’t misogynistic, AVfM frequently publishes pieces and links to videos from anti-feminist women – ‘Honey Badgers’. These women mainly hail from the United States, Canada, and the UK, and include (in no particular order):

Karen Straughan (GirlWritesWhat)

Alison Tieman (Typhon Blue)

Della Burton

Janet Bloomfield (JudgyBitch)

Diana Davison

Elly Tams (Quiet Riot Girl)

Aimee McGee

Suzanne McCarley

AVfM also has a radio offering – ‘AVfM Radio’ in the US, ‘The Voice of Europe’ this side of the pond. Four women run ‘Honey Badger Radio’ which is accessible through the AVfM site.

Quiet Riot Girl: ‘Ally Fogg Goes Native’

QRG has written an insightful critique of a recent article, ‘Where do all the angry white men come from?’ by Ally Fogg of the Guardian – a link to that article is in her piece:

http://quietgirlriot.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/ally-fogg-goes-native-feminism-misandry/

Fogg’s piece attracted over 1,300 comments in the few days before the comment stream was closed. Good to see QRG’s piece has been picked up by AVfM:

Mothers to be bribed to breastfeed

Another story for the ‘You couldn’t make this s*** up!’ file, which is now overflowing:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-24900650

The government is introducing pilot schemes in deprived parts of South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, bribing mothers to breastfeed. If they do so for the first six weeks after their babies are born, the women will get vouchers worth £120, and a further £80 if they’re still breastfeeding at the six months point. At present only 25% of mothers in these areas are breastfeeding at the six to eight weeks mark. These women will be given £120 for doing what they were going to do anyway. That makes sense.

Can there really be any new mothers not 100% clear that breastfeeding is best for babies? What does it say about women that it takes a £200 bribe to persuade some of them to do what they should be doing anyway, in the best interests of their children?

This is just the latest in a long line of initiatives designed to pass money from taxpayers to women only, and of course 72% of income tax in the UK is paid by men. I don’t think I’ve mentioned that statistic for at least two days.

James Williams’s report from the recent National Conference for Male Victims of Domestic Violence

James Williams is the estimable gentleman who runs Menmatters Radio https://www.youtube.com/user/Menmatters/videos. It was a pleasure meeting him at the recent National Conference for Male Victims of Domestic Violence. The event drew a capacity audience – 120 people – and the presentations were of a very high standard. Everyone agreed it had been a very successful event.

James interviewed a number of people at the conference – people who’d made presentations, and people in the audience. The result is a new video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YNkuc6n1KU, which is well worth watching. It’s a fairly lengthy piece, about 50 minutes, so I thought it might be useful to indicate who’s speaking at various points.

0:00 – 10:17: James Williams.

10:17 – 14.37: Mark Brooks, chairman of Mankind Initiative, the people who organised the event http://mankind.org.uk

14:37 – 18:50: Ian McNicoll, a most remarkable man, the survivor of appalling domestic violence, for which his ex-partner was jailed. We did our own piece on Ian https://j4mbdotorgdotuk.wordpress.com/2013/10/22/ian-mcnicoll-we-salute-you/

18:50 – 22:12: David Yarwood (Parity) http://parity-uk.org

22:12 – 24:49: Ann Yarwood (Ascent) http://ascentascot.org

24:49 – 36:00 Mike Buchanan (J4MB). With some embarrassment I note that I made exactly the same point about the feminisation of the NHS twice in this piece. A ‘senior moment’ but in my defence, it had been a very long and demanding day.

36:00 – 38:12: Tony Storr (Healing Men) http://healing-men.net http://healingmen.wordpress.com

38:12 – 40:22: Ian (Thames Valley Police).

40:22 – 41:50: Margaret Gardner (FASO – False Allegation Support Organisation) http://www.false-allegations.org.uk/

41:50 – 42:53: James Williams.

42:53 – 49:51: Extract of a Woman’s Hour programme, recorded on the morning of the Conference, with two academics, Nicola Graham-Kevan and Erica Bowen. They made a very strong contribution to the programme, although the presenter started off with a very silly remark. They also gave excellent presentations in the afternoon at the Conference.

49:51 – 50:36: James Williams.
