ManWomanMyth’s video on the depiction of men and women in the news media

Anyone unfamiliar with the work of the legendary British MHR video maker ManWomanMyth should take some time out to explore his video library http://youtube.com/manwomanmyth. In the context of Justine Greening’s absurd comments on women and girls suffering disproportionately from the impacts of natural disasters – we’re reminded of Emmeline Pankhurst’s remark that women suffer more than men as a result of wars, uttered at a time when 99.9% of those dying and being injured in WW1 were men – here’s a ManWomanMyth video about the depiction of men and women in the news media:

Justine Greening, Development Secretary: ‘Women and girls are disproportionately affected by typhoons.’

Another story for the ‘You couldn’t make this s*** up!’ file:

http://news.yahoo.com/uk-sends-six-more-aid-planes-typhoon-hit-002716076.html

Just look at the aftermath of any natural disaster. The people doing almost all the dangerous and unpleasant work recovering bodies, repairing infrastructure etc. will be men. The people sitting down and giving interviews to TV crews, demanding support, will mostly be women.

Justine Greening would surely not be in the cabinet if it weren’t for Dave’s insistence that women are over-represented in the cabinet relative to the proportion of female MPs in the Conservative party. I’m reminded of a video by ManWomanMyth with the theme that women and girls are disproportionately affected by global warming. I’ll try to track it down and publish it in a new post. Because here at J4MB we like to go the extra mile.

Karen Cross: ‘I left the love of my life because I thought I could do better. Now I’m childless and alone at 42.’

Jericho has left a comment with a link to a powerful Mail Online piece, published last January:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2263518/I-left-love-life-I-thought-I-better-Now-Im-childless-42.html#axzz2JlEDBuLI

How many women in their 40s (and older) find themselves in Karen Cross’s position? The number will surely rise inexorably over time. What a price women are paying for competing with men, rather than co-operating with them. What a price men are paying, too. Four in seven unemployed people in the UK are men. So women take men’s jobs, then complain there aren’t enough men in good jobs to support their subsequent life choices. And who can we credit with turning so many women into perpetually unhappy Entitlement Princesses? Gender feminists.

‘I lost my children because I have a career’

Why are so many women unwilling to accept that adverse consequences might result from having a successful career? The adverse consequences that men with successful careers have long faced, in fact. Our thanks to Lisa G for sending us this, along with the comment, ‘I’m sick to death of women who want it all, then bitch like little girls when reality slaps them in the face’:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-2511347/I-lost-children-I-career.html

From the article:

According to a report by the Institute for Public Policy Research, women today are more likely to ‘marry down’. This makes sense – women are highly employable, many of them are immensely successful and the pressure to marry a man for financial or social security becomes less important when you can earn enough money yourself. Instead, women marry for many other reasons – the desire to settle down, procreate and, of course, love. However, the breadwinning wife is taking more risks than she realises when it comes to what happens when this type of marriage breaks down.

She faces the prospect of losing a large chunk of her income, her home and, worst of all, her children. This is precisely what has happened to Anna. She and her now ex-husband decided to split up just over two years ago…

Divorce lawyer Marilyn Stowe says, ‘Women need to realise it is now far more common for them to earn more than their husbands. I see countless women who work hard and earn a lot of money, and they have become contemptuous of their stay-at-home partners. Sex and respect go out of the window and they file for divorce, then they are amazed and stunned when their partner wants 50:50 of pretty much everything. This, in turn, amazes and stuns me. Of course this happens. It’s the law of the land.’

Her point is – working women be warned. This rise in the new politics of divorce is here to stay. ‘Women said they wanted equal rights,’ says Stowe, ‘and now they are complaining about it. Men have experienced this system for years.’

Welcome to gender equality, ladies. It’s a double-edged sword.

Ally Fogg: ‘How to lie with statistics, chapter whatever’

An excellent new post by Ally Fogg, on misuse of statistics – in this case, on the incidence of domestic violence since the Conservative-led coalition came to power:

http://freethoughtblogs.com/hetpat/2013/11/24/how-to-lie-with-statistics-chapter-whatever

I’ve left a comment and urge you to do likewise. Having said that, I fear that if I post links to any more Ally Fogg posts, I’ll be thrown out of the Patriarchy.

Female RAF recruits get £100,000 compensation each… because they were made to march like men

Thanks to N who sent us an email this morning with the comment, ‘This beggars belief!’

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2512412/Female-RAF-recruits-100-000-compensation–march-like-men.html

The women in question have fully recovered from their injuries, yet will still be receiving £100,000 each, more than the maximum compensation for someone who receives injuries expected to reduce life expectancy by five years (£90,000). The taxpayer will also be paying the associated legal costs, which are expected to be similar.

This case related to the RAF, but with respect to the Army it really is about time we had (in the interests of gender equality) all-female military units, and sent them to fight in the front line. After all they get the same salaries as men of the same ranks, so why should they not be expected to take the same risks? When they’ve been wiped out, then we can send in male soldiers and expect a reasonable chance of successful engagement with the enemy.

What we have is the same old story for women in many lines of work across the public sector – equal pay for unequal work, risk, unsocial hours etc. Why are the vast majority of bomb disposal experts men? Is the evil patriarchy preventing women from going into this line of work? Ha.

The Navy isn’t immune from this madness. It was reported last year that Britain’s nuclear submarines are being modified at a cost of over £5 million each to accommodate a small number of female crew. What’s the betting that within a year of two we’ll have the first case of underwater immaculate conception, and a nuclear submarine will have to dock to offload the woman in question?

Diana Davison: ‘Trolling Academia’

A new video by Diana Davison, an American ‘Honey Badger’ who’s putting some great material out:

http://www.avoiceformen.com/updates/trolling-academia/

In the video Diana refers to a recent LSE debate on the treatment of rape as a crime by the justice system. She recently posted an excellent article specifically on that matter:

https://j4mbdotorgdotuk.wordpress.com/2013/11/22/diana-davison-is-rape-different/

We recently publicly challenged two British ‘academics’ (one female, one male) with respect to the meaning of feminist ‘methodology’ as used in academic ‘research’:

https://j4mbdotorgdotuk.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/our-public-challenges-of-dr-henrietta-oconnor-and-dr-john-goodwin/

They haven’t responded to our challenge, but we’re not remotely surprised. Taxpayer-funded feminist ‘academics’ aren’t accountable to taxpayers, and treat their paymasters with utter contempt.

Alcohol is good for your health: leading science writer claims tipple can prevent cancer and may help improve your sex life

At last. For those of us who enjoy a small glass of red wine with our evening meals, possibly even two small glasses on occasion, the good news that what we’re doing is an essential element in our healthcare regimes:

How to train your woman like a dog

In the modern era, would it be considered acceptable for a journalist to write an article titled, ‘How to train your woman like a dog’? Of course not. Could you imagine that if a journalist were to write such a piece anyway, a national newspaper might then publish it? Again, of course not. How, then, could the Daily Telegraph possibly justify publishing this?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/womens-life/10377779/How-to-train-your-boyfriend-like-a-dog.html

I’m about to add a post on the matter to our recently-launched associated website The Alternative Sexism Project http://thealternativesexismproject.wordpress.com and I invite you to add your comments there. Comments on the site aren’t moderated, and you won’t need to leave your name, or an email address.
