My thanks to Jason Gregory for alerting me to the following story. He has a talent for tracking down stories that make you think, ‘You couldn’t make this s*** up! Is it April Fools’ Day?’

When Feminism first appeared in our modern society in the mid 1970s a young woman of my acquaintance said to a small group comprising about four of her female peers and myself: “No men offer their seats (to women) on public transport”. (It was customary up until that time for men to do so). I replied “You wanted equality.” She and all the other young women present had absolutely no answer to what I’d said.
I often think of that exchange when I’m on the bus or tube today, especially when men half or a third my age don’t offer their seats to the fairer sex.
Feminism has caused women to lose so much of what was good in their lives.
