BBC studio interview – women in the workplace

I was up earlier than usual this morning, because at 10:00 – 11:00 I’ll be in a BBC studio discussing a recent report by the Women’s Business Council, widely reported on the BBC and elsewhere:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22766643

The gist of the report is that if more women were economically active, the economy would be transformed. The report includes the following wondrous claim, reported in the BBC link above:

Over 2.4m women currently out-of-work want to work, while 1.3m want to boost their hours

What a pile of garbage. Surveys over many years have shown that most women would like to work fewer hours than they do. Indeed a recent survey of 1,200+ women, 25+ years old, in full-time work and with a partner, showed that 78% of them would happily give up work to be supported by a partner, but most felt under pressure from other women to be financially independent:

I’ll put the discussion on our YouTube channel at some point in the coming few days.

The problem with female doctors

For many years the bestselling writer (and former practising GP) Vernon Coleman has been writing about the crisis in the NHS which would inevitably result from the huge increase in the proportion of female medical students over the past decades. He’s pointed out:

– women are more likely than men to quit the profession after graduating, because they’re more likely than men to have partners willing to finance the option

– women are more likely than men to work part-time regardless of whether or not they have children

– women are more likely than men to refuse to work unsocial hours

Parts of the NHS have been close to crisis for years as a result of this social engineering experiment, and I’ve written about it myself at length. I’m grateful to the journalist Claire-Louise Meadows of http://afternyne.com for pointing me to an article in today’s Daily Mail:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2336235/Female-doctors-NHS-tremendous-burden-married-children-want-work-time.html

The consequences of driving up the proportion of female doctors include an inferior service for the public, at a higher cost to the taxpayer. If this isn’t the very definition of madness, I don’t know what is. So hats off to Anne McIntosh MP and  Anna Soubry MP for saying the unsayable.

End violence against women…

We recently published a post concerning 286 academic studies and reports showing women are as aggressive, or more aggressive, towards their intimate partners, compared with men:

http://atomic-temporary-215937230.wpcomstaging.com/2013/05/08/women-are-as-physically-aggressive-or-more-aggressive-in-their-relationships-with-spouses-or-male-partners/

We also know that men are far less likely than women to report being the victims of domestic abuse/violence. Yesterday we published a post on this blog and http://fightingfeminism.wordpress.com with a link to an image of a battered man on the Facebook page of Men’s Rights UK:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/190093287771782

While I could personally reach the image through the link, supporters in both the US and UK told me they couldn’t do so – within an hour of my original post being published. I honestly didn’t know if this was the result of censorship by Facebook – there’s been much coverage of Facebook’s actions with respect to MHR sites in recent times – or if there was a more innocent explanation. It turns out the latter was the case. Men’s Rights UK is a ‘closed’ group, and you need to apply to join. I understand a number of people have already done exactly that, as a result of wishing to view the image, and I encourage others to join the group. Here’s the image:

Funding more candidates for the 2015 general election

My thanks to PF for persuading me to try ‘crowdfunding’ to finance deposits and literature for candidates at the 2015 general election. The link is here:

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/justice-for-men-boys-and-the-women-who-love-them/x/3529111

We’re seeking £1,000 by August 3, to finance one candidate. If the target isn’t reached, donors will get back their money in full. If the campaign is successful we’ll continue with the approach, to finance one candidate at a time. We still have almost two years until the next general election. Thank you for your support.

The identifying feature of fascism

John Hembling (JohnTheOther or ‘JtO’) of ‘A Voice for Men’ can be relied upon to provide insightful analysis of gender-related topics. He’s put his mind to the issue of censorship on Facebook, advocated by Laura Bates of ‘The Everyday Sexism Project’ and others, and penned this solid article:

Nick Ross on rape, domestic violence, prostitution…

My thanks to a lady supporter, JS, for alerting me to an outstanding article by Nick Ross in the Sunday Mail of 26 May (link below). The Daily Mail and Sunday Mail continue to lead the field with intelligent and courageous analysis of gender-related matters. Other than when Janet Street-Porter is writing for them, anyway.
