Mike Buchanan’s appearance on ‘The Jeremy Vine Show’

Mike Buchanan appeared on Jeremy Vine’s show on BBC Radio 2 this lunchtime, debating with Laura Bates of The Everyday Sexism Project. The programme regularly attracts 6 – 7 million listeners.

The discussion (and ensuing comments from listeners etc.) lasts from 34:45 – 1:00:30 from the link below. We’ll be putting the piece on Mike’s YouTube site shortly.

Mike tells us he’s had a constant stream of highly supportive phone calls and texts (from men and women) since the piece was broadcast. Less than an hour afterwards he’d been booked to speak on two other BBC radio shows in the next 24 hours, as well as a major commercial radio station tomorrow lunchtime. We’ll post the audio files on Mike’s YouTube site as soon as we can.

Laura Bates’s appearance on the International Women’s Day edition of ‘Daily Politics’

I’m looking forward to a discussion tomorrow with Laura Bates on the Jeremy Vine show, on BBC Radio 2. On International Women’s Day, on 8 March, there was a discussion about feminism in the modern era on the BBC television programme Daily Politics, hosted by regular anchor Andrew Neil. Laura was one of the two key women in the discussion. She was the founder of The Everyday Whining Project – she herself calls it The Everyday Sexism Project http://www.everydaysexism.com and she still runs the site. Nobody would ever confuse Ms Bates for a ray of sunshine, it has to be said.

The other key woman in the discussion was the sociologist Catherine Hakim, originator of Preference Theory (2000). She made some insightful points, and I wish she’d been given longer to speak. It’s a pity she didn’t seize this golden opportunity to point out the damage caused to Norwegian businesses by gender quotas, or to point out that four in seven British men are work-centred, while only one in seven British women is – which largely explains the gender balances we see in parliament, at the top of major corporations, and elsewhere.

The video footage of the discussion (with a little preliminary material) is below, from approximately 15:12 to 25:40. Enjoy:

Mike Buchanan’s forthcoming appearance on the Jeremy Vine Show

Tomorrow (Thursday) Mike Buchanan will be appearing on the Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2, which regularly attracts more than six million listeners. The show runs from 12:00 to 14:00, and we’ll later put up a link to the iPlayer audio file.

He’ll be given the opportunity, we understand, to outline the thinking behind the establishment of the new political party. Then he’ll have a discussion with Laura Bates, who runs the Everyday Sexism Project. Our next post will be about a discussion held on International Women’s Day, last Friday, on the BBC TV show Daily Politics. Ms Bates appeared with the sociologist Catherine Hakim.

‘He who pays the piper, calls the tune.’ Or does he?

Given that the British government – in common with governments across the developed world – discriminates against men and for women in so many ways, to what extent are men bankrolling the state through their taxes, more specifically their income taxes i.e. the taxes on their earned incomes? The answer may surprise you. The excellent American men’s human rights website ‘A Voice for Men’ has just exclusively published my article on the matter:

Dr Janice Fiamengo’s presentation at the University of Toronto

Dr Janice Fiamengo, formerly a radical feminist activist, and for some years a professor of English at the University of Ottawa, recently gave a presentation at the University of Toronto, which has attracted deserved attention. The presentation is essentially a powerful critique of radical feminism and academic feminism. The videos are downloadable from the following link, and they run into one another. Her presentation runs to around the 45 minute point, followed by others making points, and a Q&A session. Enjoy:

JudgyBitch’s first video – ‘rape culture’

For some time I’ve subscribed to the excellent blog of an American anti-feminist, JudgyBitch http://judgybitch.com. She recently announced plans to start posting videos on YouTube. The first has just been released (link below) and it covers ‘rape culture’. It’s a great video, I think, with JudgyBitch’s trademarks of humanity, insights, nuanced
arguments and humour. I look forward to more blog pieces and videos from her.

David Cameron publicly criticises a woman! Hold the front page!!!

The day we never thought would arrive… has arrived. David Cameron has publicly criticised a woman. Only to defend another woman, it’s true, but it’s progress. Now there are so many obvious candidates, so who might she have been? Harriet Harman MP, for doing all in her power to drive through feminist agendas when Labour were in power, with no democratic mandate for doing so? Jo Swinson MP for her remarks about the alleged benefits of having more women in corporate boardrooms? EU Commissioner Viviane Reding, for the same reason, but across the EU?

Er, no. He’s publicly criticised the authoress Hilary Mantel for comparing the Duchess of Cambridge to a ‘shop window mannequin’. He’s sticking to the big issues of the day… the economy, challenges with the City, energy security, food adulteration, the financial and political crises affecting the EU, deciding policy with respect to military intervention in Syria… and the Duchess of Cambridge’s appearance. Unbelievable. Here’s the BBC piece on this hot news story:

IEA reports on state funding of social engineering programmes, charities etc.

In the light of our growing interest in the public funding – across the EU generally, and in the UK specifically – of social engineering programmes, and our plans to challenge the   charitable status of politically-motivated militant feminist organisations including the Fawcett Society and the Women’s Resource Centre, I thought it timely to point the good visitors to this site in the direction of two strong reports written by Chris Snowden, who works for the leading London think-tank, the Institute of Economic Affairs (‘IEA’).

Chris was the author of The Spirit Level Delusion, an excellent response to a bestselling leftie book, The Spirit Level. The first of the following two reports was published by the IEA in June 2012, the second was published two days ago:

Dr Janice Fiamengo – the politicisation of academia

Dr Janice Fiamengo, a professor of English at the University of Ottawa, last night gave a talk at the University of Toronto about the politicisation of academia by militant feminists, a topic which should concern all citizens – as the taxpayers who finance these social engineering initiatives, for one thing – and not only academics. The politicisation of academia is said to be rife across the developed world, and it has (inevitably) led to the appointment of women to academic posts when better-qualified men were available for appointment. The result has been only too predictable – a marked decline in the quality of academic work in many fields.

‘A Voice for Men’ is going to cover the Toronto presentation and related matters in detail over coming days, but they’ve just put up a short video of an interview with Dr Fiamengo, downloadable here:

We salute Dr Fiamengo for her integrity and courage in making public statements about this important topic.
