West Midlands mayoral contest

Labour’s Richard Parker has beaten the incumbent Tory mayor Andy Street to become the new mayor with a majority of just 1,508 votes (total votes cast 597,726). It’s time for Rishi Sunak to bow to the inevitable and announce an early general election.

Clarkson’s Farm, Series 3

Today was a red letter day because Amazon Prime launched Series 3 of Clarkson’s Farm, the wonderful series fronted by the irrepressible Jeremy Clarkson at his 1,000-acre farm Diddly Squat in the Cotswolds, where I’d live if I won the National Lottery. It’s worth subscribing to Amazon Prime for a month if only to catch every episode of the programme.

Sleeping with the Enemy: Swedish female police officers leaked deadly information to gang members

Our thanks to Paolo for this. There are clear parallels with the many cases of female prison officers having sexual relationships with male prisoners in the UK.
