Claire: “At 50, my divorce means I can’t afford to retire for another 20 years.”

Our thanks to Nigel for this. He writes:

“Yet another whine in MSM from a well-off woman facing reality.

This quote says it all “Since separating from her husband last year, who she was with for 30 years, she “no longer thinks everything will be alright”.Speaking to The i Paper, she said: “I am now looking at secure positions as I no longer have the safety net of my husband’s income.”

Her business “media relations and crisis management support business.” was in fact consultancy which no doubt fitted her “work life balance”. Without her husband’s “safety net” she has to find a real job “She is looking to be employed by a company, so her taxes will be handled for her, she will have employment rights and protection, pension contributions from her employer, and job stability.” This just reminded me of so many female “entrepreneurs” I came across, running training, HR, management consultancies that were in effect safety netted by their husband’s/partner’s senior salaried job. Often making use of their husband/partner’s contacts to get their business. Constantly there are calls to fund female entrepreneurs as if they will add to the nation’s wealth but the reality is that a large proportion are businesses run to suit “work life balance” and effectively subsidised by the husband/partner.

Of course that the husband provides a “safety net” is so normal that no one will question such a arrangement. So much so that if such a husband/partner were to take the risk of starting a business, and it doesn’t work out we get articles from such women complaining how that risk has left her without the expectations she had! Won’t occur that she should have provided a “safety net” for him. Needless to say had it taken off and he can support her expectations with his “safety net” there’d be no complaints! Claire, in this report, will have to buckle down and get a secure job. Welcome to men’s world.”

Prison crisis as 58 female officers sacked for relationships with inmates in just 5 years

Our thanks to Graham for this. Needless to say, the Prison Service will not stop recruiting young women as prison guards. God forbid any admission that women are manifestly unsuited to the roles.

A piece (£) in the Sunday Times. Focal therapy, which targets cancerous cells without damaging surrounding tissue, reduces the risk of side effects such as incontinence and erectile dysfunction.
