Lesbian genius – “eliminate men”

France’s latest feminist storm is over Alice Coffin’s book, ‘Lesbian Genius’. Coffin is a Paris city councillor and activist and, by the sounds of it, a thorough bore. She and her partner refuse to read books, watch films or listen to music made by men and Coffin recommends that other women follow suit with eliminating men from their lives. This is not a new feminist idea, it’s a tired old one, and an egregious and miserable and philistine one. In an otherwise inane response to a fans question on how they can possibly listen to Morrissey’s music despite his “problematic” views, Nick Cave said something beautiful not so long ago:

I think perhaps it would be helpful to you if you saw the proprietorship of a song in a different way. Personally, when I write a song and release it to the public, I feel it stops being my song. It has been offered up to my audience and they, if they care to, take possession of that song and become its custodian. The integrity of the song now rests not with the artist, but with the listener.”

To reject art due to arbitrary biological features of their makers is self harm. The fact that feminists encourage this is gross. I suspect that it’s in no small part a reaction to penis envy. Women are wonderful, and often creative (usually in modest ways), but the vast majority of the finest art is made by men. I will be uploading a conversation to YouTube this evening, with Johan Nayar who explained the evolutionary basis for creativity in men – he calls it an honest signal (like a peacocks tail) in that becoming extraordinarily competent at an art is essentially wasteful, and in a hunter gatherer society being able to devote the time required to become accomplished would suggest that a man had all other bases (food, shelter, warmth…) well covered. But I digress…

It’s not enough to help one another, we have to erase them. Erase them from our minds, from our pictures, from our representation.”

Writes Coffin, and claims that men perpetuate a “permanent war on women”, showing a bitter ignorance of the relationships between men and women both historically and currently. As Woke Father asked in the article I shared earlier,

The reality is that there is no society on Earth where one group was set up as oppressed, where the oppressors themselves were disadvantaged.

Consider slavery in pre-civil war America. It would be inconceivable to anyone to suggest that slave owners would have ever:

  • Provided their own warm clothing to slaves to keep them warmer than the slave owners themselves
  • Gotten down on one knee to exchange an expensive ring in exchange for the slave’s companionship
  • Put the safety and security of the slave’s lives above their own
  • Do the hard work for the slave so that the slave doesn’t have to endure physical hardship”

The Economist reports that, Frances’ former minister for gender equality, Marlene Schiappa has accused Coffin of advocating for “a form of apartheid”. It beggars belief that such prejudice is socially acceptable and that Coffin’s position as a public representative remains secure.

Woke Father writes

The Woke Father blog is publishing some interesting articles lately, including:

How Society Historically Privileged Women and Still Does which challenges patriarchy theory by highlighting disadvantages faced by men and boys in the U.S. historically and presently, and advantages enjoyed by women and girls.

Modern Toxic Feminism is like Nazism, in which excerpts from feminist texts are compared with excerpts from ‘Mein Kampf’ and the tactics of feminist aggression are compared to anti-semitic Nazi aggression. Note: regardless of our opinion of the new Medusa statue in Manhattan… J4MB does not support the petition to have the statue removed that is included at the end of the article. Censorship is a bad response.
