PROBLEMS with MEN: Privilege

Excellent video (20:33) from The Glass Blind Spot’s new series ‘PROBLEMS with MEN”. This episode examines the claim that straight white men play the game of life at the lowest difficulty setting.

Women gain higher earnings from degrees

Our thanks to Rick for this link.

In short: a study has shown that, at age 29, women graduates out earn women non-graduates significantly more than men graduates out earn men non-graduates. The assumption is that this is caused by the tendency for women non-graduates to take part time work or be stay-at-home-mums.

Feminists convince Spanish court to ban sex workers union

Feminism is many things – and intrasexual competition is one of them. “Women’s rights groups” filed a lawsuit against the OTRAS sex workers union and the Madrid court found that “recognition of the group amounted to making the exploitation of prostitutes legal”.

Juries have no place in rape trials

Julie Bindel #TriggerWarning!

Ann Coffey, Labour MP, has suggested doing away with juries in rape trials – in order to increase convictions. Bindel makes the useful suggestion that a “panel of assessors” with special training might replace traditional juries. I wonder who would provide such training?

Did a US judge just make FGM legal? An explainer by Brian D Earp

Excellent and informative video (7:02) explaining why the federal FGM law was struck down as unconstitutional by Judge Bernard Friedman – how it is still illegal under assault legislation, and child abuse legislation (in many states) – and how this was an inevitable step and could ultimately be a positive step towards protecting all children inclusively from genital mutilation.

Blatant sexism causes man to ask woman why she has two laptops…

Amber Roberts has sparked the Twitter outrage mob with this harrowing personal account of a microagression at an airport. The answer to the man’s question is interesting – “one is for my astrophysics work and one is for my artificial intelligence work” by the way… But do not be fooled into thinking that such a question could be a reasonable one motivated by curiosity, that a person may ask of any man or woman with laptops however – Amber knows that this man was trying to inflict Patriarchal pressure on her to trade in her laptops for some nice knitting needles. This deliberate discrimination must be called out  “when we are trying to solve the problem of getting more women involved in tech.”

And definitely ignore this Janice Fiamengo video (26:03).
